The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Johnson tries to clinch but Jackson is having none of it.

Jackson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson, pushing him back against the cage.
Johnson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jackson swivels and escapes.

and Jackson counters with a series of strikes. Johnson will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Jackson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

and Jackson counters with a nice low kick that buckles Johnson's knee momentarily.Johnson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

A low kick from Johnson is predictable there
and Jackson counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Johnson is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Jackson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jackson bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Johnson looks gassed!
Jackson throws a series of punches but Johnson moves out of range.
Jackson lands with a slapping head kick.
Johnson has his takedown stuffed

and Jackson moves into the clinch.
Jackson dodges an elbow strike from Johnson.
Johnson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jackson has him pressed against the cage.
Johnson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Jackson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Johnson stalling in the clinch but Jackson improves position.
Jackson tries to pull guard but Johnson won't allow it.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jackson clobbers Johnson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jackson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Johnson backs up against the cage.
Joe Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jackson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson wants to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Jackson thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Johnson if he has to take too many more of those.
Johnson throws a nice outside leg kick.
Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Jackson, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Jackson against the cage but Jackson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Johnson's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Johnson duly obliges.
Johnson throws a half hearted mid kick.
Jackson blocks a leg kick.
Johnson moves out of range of the body kick.
Jackson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Jackson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Johnson looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jackson misses with the combination.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Jackson counters with a three punch combo that has Johnson backing up. Johnson nods at Jackson to acknowledge the strikes.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Johnson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Jackson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jackson tries to get out of the position.
Johnson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jackson is looking to escape.

Johnson is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Johnson extends the arm and Jackson is forced to tap!
