Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jerome Hoss! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva has taken the fight to the clinch.
Silva tries a knee to the head but Hoss blocks it.
Silva has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hoss is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Silva goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hoss prevents it.
Hoss has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Silva uses from the top position. Hoss throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Hoss wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hoss.

Silva passes Hoss's left leg - he's now in half guard. Hoss is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hoss pushes Silva off looking to stand but Silva dives back in and keeps control.

That was a close round but I would say that Anderson Silva will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Silva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hoss is just riding it out for now. Silva eventually gives up the hold. Hoss is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.

Hoss is fighting to maintain full guard but Silva has managed to sneak the leg through. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva is looking for a kimura but Hoss is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silva to get the leverage. Silva is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Hoss has managed to free his arm - good work. Hoss punching from the bottom.

Hoss bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard. Anderson Silva overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hoss decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Silva, up you get! Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Hoss circles away.
Hoss shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Silva pinned against the cage. Silva gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Silva with a lazy takedown attempt and Hoss moves into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Silva shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hoss but Hoss pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's two minutes gone in the round. No luck for Hoss with that takedown attempt. Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hoss as he jumps to the side. Silva had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hoss is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Silva Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hoss's back instead. Hoss is trying to defend against the choke here but Silva has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Silva Tightens the hold and Hoss taps out furiously! Silva displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
