Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Boe Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Kato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Boe Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kenji Kato!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan tries to land a front kick but Kato steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Kato dips to his left and cracks Hogan with an uppercut!
Kato is looking to slow Hogan down with leg kicks.
Hogan takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Hogan seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Kato moves out of range as Hogan strikes.
Hogan walks into a left hand.
Hogan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A decent looking cross lands there for Kato.
Hogan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kato was well out of range. Poor timing from Hogan.
Kato fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hogan.

Hogan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kato on his heels. He'll look to pass Kato's guard now, I'm sure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kato has his foot on Hogan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hogan works his way back into a safe position though.

Hogan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kato has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hogan has managed to get both his arms back between Kato's legs - danger averted.

Kato had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hogan defends it easily.

Hogan postures up in Kato's guard and throws a big left but Kato blocks it.

Hogan passes Kato's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kato tries to kick Hogan off but Hogan keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kato is trying to maintain the position but Hogan is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hogan is looking to advance position but Kato won't allow it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hogan wants to pass to mount but Kato is defending the position.
Kato avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hogan.
Hogan is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kato pushes Hogan off looking to stand but Hogan dives back in and keeps control.
Kato is trying to control but can't.
Hogan prevents Kato from improving his position.
Hogan is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Hogan is keen to just control but Kato is a slippery customer.

Kato is looking to control Hogan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kato avoid being mounted?
Kato moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Kato looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hogan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hogan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kato can't keep his opponent in guard - Hogan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hogan drops an elbow to the side of Kato's head.
Hogan is nestled in close to Kato, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hogan is working for a submission of some sort.
Kato wants to improve his position but Hogan is controlling well.

Kato is looking to control Hogan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kato avoid being mounted?

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A low kick from Kato is predictable there
and Hogan counters with a nice uppercut.
Kato keeps the fight on the outside.
A little jabbing left from Kato on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Hogan throws a body shot but no joy.
Kato throws an overhand right that lands on Hogan's shoulder, as Hogan tries to avoid the shot.
Kato throws a hook but Hogan blocks it.
Kenji Kato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hogan takes a swing at Kato's ribcage but misses.
Hogan catches Kato with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Kato walks into a left hand.
Kato throws a front kick aimed at Hogan's knee but Hogan avoids it well.
Kato jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kato.
Hogan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Kenji Kato seems to be getting the better of the standup.
A telegraphed right hand from Kato misses the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hogan avoids the body shot from Kato.
Hogan fails with a takedown attempt.
Hogan throws a front kick aimed at Kato's knee but Kato avoids it well.
Hogan misses with a hook. Kato ducked under it nicely.

Kato throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kenji Kato is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kato looks to score with a jab to the body but Hogan is just out of range.
Hogan feinted with a counter takedown.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kato. Hogan does a little dance to reset his feet.
An attempted straight right counter from Hogan misses the target.
Kato waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hogan.
Hogan attempts a counter takedown but Kato avoids it well and moves away.

Hogan connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Kato to the floor! Hogan dives in looking for the finish!

Kato is trying to control but can't.
Kato is still in real trouble! Can Hogan finish him?
Hogan lands a big elbow - Kato is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Hogan!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Boe Hogan!
A relieved looking Boe Hogan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Kenji Kato was interviewed post fight and said 'I'll be back to put on a show for all you fans!!! I'll come back stronger with from support!!'.
