Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thaddeus Proctor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Campion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Thaddeus Proctor has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thaddeus Proctor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thomas Campion! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Campion ducks under a wild hook from Proctor. Campion is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Campion gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Proctor tries to stall but Campion uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Campion can't get the takedown.
Campion pulls guard. Campion has Proctor pulled in close to control his posture. Proctor stands up from Campion's guard - Proctor perhaps looking for a knockout. Proctor misses with a series of wild punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Campion moves out of range as Proctor strikes. Campion tries to clinch but Proctor moves out of range. Proctor cracks Campion with a good jab. Nice body punch from Proctor. Campion slips a straight right by Proctor.
That's one minute gone in the round. A slow jab from Proctor misses its intended target. Campion tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Proctor manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Campion tries to score a power double leg takedown but Proctor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Campion somewhat. Proctor tries to keep at a distance but Campion has taken the fight into the clinch. Proctor is fighting off a takedown attempt but Campion is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Proctor to the mat. Proctor regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Campion throws a big right hand that misses. Proctor wants to sweep here but Campion controlling him for the moment. Proctor is working hard here to advance position. Campion has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Campion won't allow Proctor to get back to his feet.

Proctor is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Campion is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Proctor utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Proctor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Campion is controlling him. Campion connects with a couple of short punches. Proctor tries to land a sweep but no joy. Proctor is adopting a defensive guard. Campion wants to control from the top but Proctor keeps moving. Proctor looking to hit a scissor sweep but Campion is one step ahead there. Campion looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Proctor wants to get back to his feet but Campion is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Campion looking to pass the guard. Campion stands up over Proctor, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Campion is pushing down on Proctor's leg trying to pass to half guard. Proctor is fighting to maintain full guard but Campion has managed to sneak the leg through. Proctor trying to control here.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Campion working his ground and pound in the gym. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Proctor is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Proctor blocking the ground and pound attempt from Campion. Campion trying to mount his opponent but Proctor defends it. Campion prevents Proctor from standing back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Proctor is looking for a sweep. Campion is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Proctor is trying is best to control the position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Proctor has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Campion is working away from the top position though. Campion scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Proctor has hold of Campion's hands but Campion slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Proctor is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Campion scores with a couple of nice shots. Proctor is trying to get back to full guard. Campion winds up and cracks Proctor with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Campion tries to stand and escape but Proctor is controlling the position. Campion working over Proctor with some ground and pound. Proctor looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Campion is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Campion is thwarting Proctor's attempts to control the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Proctor wants to get back to full guard. Proctor is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Campion scores with a couple of nice shots. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Campion lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Campion. Campion goes for a double leg but Proctor avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Proctor continues to drive forward. Campion has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Campion tests Proctor's chin there with a solid looking shot. Proctor slaps away a takedown attempt from Campion, before circling back to the center of the mat. Proctor missing with a left hand there. Campion was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Proctor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Campion doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Proctor misses with a right hand and Campion counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Proctor thinking. Thaddeus Proctor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Proctor connects with a good right hand that stumbles Campion. Campion circles away out of range and recomposes himself. A slow jab from Proctor misses its intended target. Proctor tests Campion's chin there with a solid looking shot. Proctor is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Campion acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Campion tries to move into range but Proctor moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Proctor lands a slapping body shot.
Proctor misses with an uppercut. Campion tries to clinch but Proctor is having none of it. Proctor scores with a decent looking hook. Thaddeus Proctor is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Proctor misses with a right hand and Campion counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Campion. Campion is leaning against Proctor and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Campion is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Thaddeus Proctor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thomas Campion. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Proctor lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Campion backwards. Campion escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Proctor looks to land a combination but Campion avoids it well. Proctor misses with an uppercut. Campion shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Proctor's guard. Campion throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Proctor works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Campion scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Campion connects with a couple of short punches. Proctor controls Campion momentarily but Campion frees himself. Campion wants to control from the top but Proctor keeps moving. Campion stops Proctor from standing up. Campion slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Campion is putting a hurting on Proctor here, landing some big shots from side control. Campion lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Campion trying to control the position but Proctor is working away. Campion is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Proctor has escaped the position, nice work there.

Proctor can't do much from the bottom here. Proctor is not content to let Campion control the position. Campion is chipping away with strikes.

and Campion counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Proctor! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Proctor is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Campion is controlling him well.

Campion thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Proctor gets back to half guard. He's all about the action. Campion throwing shots but Proctor is blocking nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Proctor tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Proctor is controlling Campion's trapped leg to prevent Campion from advancing to side control. Proctor tries to get to full guard but Campion has control of the leg. Proctor keeping control of the position. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Thaddeus Proctor. I think Proctor has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
