Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lou Mazza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Capital Punishment (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mazza comes to the cage accompanied by Smooth Criminal. Punishment has chosen Everybody by: Yo Gotti as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Capital Punishment! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Punishment uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mazza. Mazza fails with the takedown. Mazza throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Punishment's waist but Punishment gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mazza off to one side. Lou Mazza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mazza fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lou Mazza. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mazza darts in looking for a takedown but Punishment gets double underhooks and turns Mazza into the cage. Mazza looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Punishment trying to control from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mazza prevents Punishment from improving his position. Punishment actively working from the bottom here. Punishment is staying active underneath Mazza, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mazza is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Punishment is looking to control Mazza's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Punishment avoid being mounted? Mazza is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Punishment! Mazza controlling his opponent. Mazza is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Punishment can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Mazza is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Punishment is surviving well by controlling Mazza's body position as best he can. Mazza goes for an armbar but Punishment turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Punishment. Punishment trying to control but Mazza is working from the bottom. Punishment throwing strikes from guard but Mazza blocks nicely. Punishment looking to sit in guard and control but Mazza gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mazza controlling from the top position. Mazza prevents Punishment from getting back to his feet. Mazza is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Punishment is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mazza defends well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Punishment is looking to stand back up but Mazza counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Punishment. Mazza content to control rather than advance. Mazza is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mazza has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Punishment is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Punishment keeps trying to improve his position. Punishment has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mazza looking to control but Punishment is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Mazza working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mazza controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mazza looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Mazza closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Punishment is looking to improve his position.

Punishment is looking to get to half guard. Mazza tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Punishment takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
It looks like Capital Punishment has been cut. Mazza controlling the pace for now. Mazza is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Punishment can do to turn this around? Mazza lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Mazza tightening his grip on Punishment, looking for the choke. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mazza is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Punishment is defending well though. Mazza let's go of the attempt for now. Punishment is really stuck here.
Mazza throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Punishment has hold of Mazza's leg, trying to break free but it's let Mazza lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Punishment is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Mazza throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
