Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Musta Laine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Ashton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laine comes to the cage accompanied by Somnium - After All. The crowd seem to be enjoying Ashton's choice of entrance music: Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Musta Laine! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Ashton! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laine misses with a head kick.

Ashton doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Ashton throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Laine sees it coming and avoids it easily. Laine was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Laine closes the distance and clinches. Ashton lands a left hand.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ashton has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Laine dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laine lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Ashton is trying to push Laine away but Laine has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Laine blocks a body shot from Ashton. A left hand lands to the body for Ashton.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laine misses with the head strike.
Laine is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ashton is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Laine to the mat. Laine regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Ashton throws a big right hand that misses. Ashton stopping the sweep attempt from Laine. Ashton postures up in Laine's guard and throws a big left but Laine blocks it. Laine wants to sweep but no luck. Laine is trying to control the position but Ashton postures up. Ashton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Ashton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Laine is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Laine is trying to hold Ashton in close to prevent damage but Ashton has managed to pass into half guard.
Ashton looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Laine is trying to maintain the position but Ashton is very close to passing his half guard. Laine trying to get back to full guard but Ashton takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Ashton looking to control but Laine is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Ashton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Ashton controlling from the full mount. BOOM! Ashton connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ashton scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Ashton is in the full mount, landing strikes. Ashton looking to finish Laine with some ground and pound. This is bad for Laine! Laine sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Laine is controlling Ashton's trapped leg to prevent Ashton from advancing to side control. Ashton working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Laine is trying to get back to full guard. Ashton seems to be looking for submissions.
Laine is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ashton pulls his head out easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ashton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Laine does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Ashton controlling the action here. Laine trying to control from the bottom.
Ashton working the head and body with strikes. Laine is looking for a sweep. Ashton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Laine wants to get back to full guard but Ashton has mounted him! Ashton lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Laine bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Ashton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Laine is one step ahead there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rick Ashton dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Laine lands a head shot. Horrible takedown attempt by Ashton or perhaps it was just good defense by Laine, which made it look bad. Laine misses with a double jab.
Ashton takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Ashton takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Laine tries to clinch there but Ashton circles away.
Ashton changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laine jabs Ashton to the body, keeping him at a distance. Laine darts in and clinches Ashton up against the cage. Laine stalling the fight.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ashton is trying to break the clinch but Laine is controlling him. Ashton trying to control the position but instead, Laine has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ashton into the cage. Ashton tries to stall but Laine uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
The referee calls for Laine to work.

Ashton manages to pull guard.
Laine makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Laine will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Ashton is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Laine is looking to work some ground and pound but Ashton has wrist control. Ashton is looking for a triangle but Laine pushes his legs off easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Laine postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Laine is looking to take a break and control but Ashton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ashton is trying to improve his position. Laine working away. Ashton takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Rick Ashton has got the better of the ground game so far. Laine misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Ashton on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ashton can't do much from the bottom here. Ashton is trying to work for a sweep but Laine has mounted him! Ashton is trying to escape the mount.
Ashton tries to lock up and control but Laine gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Laine unloading with bombs! Laine with good strikes from the mount here!
Ashton is rocked! Laine looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Ashton covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Musta Laine decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
