Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mr Smiley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russel Roloson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smiley comes to the cage accompanied by Family Matter Theme. Russel Roloson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Russel Roloson! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roloson throws a nice looking combination but Smiley bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Roloson tries to clinch up. Roloson misses with a double jab.
Roloson instigates a clinch. Roloson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Smiley landing knees to the head.
It looks like Russel Roloson has been cut. Roloson has had enough of the clinch but Smiley keeps him there for the moment. Roloson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Smiley tries to stall but Roloson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Smiley keeps control of Roloson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Roloson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Smiley has him pressed against the cage. Smiley looking to throw knees to the head but Roloson is blocking nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roloson's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Roloson duly obliges.
It looks like Mr Smiley has been cut. Smiley closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Smiley controlling from side mount. Roloson wants to get back to his feet but Smiley drags him back down. Roloson looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Smiley scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Roloson to see if he's OK. Smiley controlling the position from side mount. Smiley stands up and we're back to a striking position. Smiley has closed the distance and engaged Roloson in a clinch.
Roloson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Smiley has him pressed against the cage. Smiley goes for a takedown attempt but Roloson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Smiley shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Roloson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smiley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smiley looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smiley stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Roloson to get to his feet. Roloson tries to bum rush Smiley with a series of wild strikes but Smiley uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Smiley clinches. Smiley manages to pull guard.

Roloson gets to his feet. Smiley looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Smiley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Smiley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! This has been an exciting period of action! Smiley controlling the position easily from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roloson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Smiley gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Roloson throws a series of punches but Smiley moves out of range. Roloson misses with a few strikes there.
Roloson tries to clinch and Smiley counters with a takedown into side control. Roloson can't do much from the bottom here. Roloson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Roloson wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Roloson pushes Smiley away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Smiley gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Roloson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Roloson is trying to buck Smiley off.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Nice takedown defense from Roloson. No joy for Smiley on that attempt. Roloson misses with a combination
and Smiley counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Roloson is lucky that one didn't land flush. Smiley will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Smiley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Roloson throws a series of punches but Smiley avoids them all with ease. Roloson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Smiley counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Roloson! This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Roloson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Smiley stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mr Smiley dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's time! Smiley's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
A low kick from Roloson is predictable there and Smiley counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Smiley closes the distance and clinches up with Roloson, looking for a takedown. Smiley pushes Roloson against the cage but Roloson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Smiley moves into the clinch successfully.

Roloson slow jab from Smiley misses its intended target. Roloson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Smiley holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Smiley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Smiley counters by moving into the clinch. Smiley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Roloson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Roloson misses with a combination
and Smiley counters with an outside leg kick.
Smiley drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smiley working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roloson tries to buck Smiley off but Smiley is having none of it. Roloson is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Smiley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Roloson is trying to get back to half guard. Smiley decides to stand up, so the ref orders Roloson to his feet. Roloson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Smiley counters with a straight right hand. Russel Roloson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Smiley avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Roloson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Roloson takes a kick to the side of the head. Smiley avoids a punch combination nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smiley. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Smiley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Roloson throws a leg kick and Smiley counters with a shoot takedown. Roloson fights it but they end up in guard. Smiley decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Roloson, up you get! Roloson throws a right hand that Smiley ducks under and follows up with a left that Smiley also avoids with ease. Left hook, right uppercut from Roloson. Smiley closes the distance and clinches up with Roloson, looking for a takedown. Smiley pushes Roloson against the cage but Roloson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Horrible takedown by Smiley or perhaps it was just good defense by Roloson which made him look bad. Roloson misses with the combination.

Oh Smiley is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Smiley shoots in for a takedown but Roloson shows good takedown defense. Smiley seems to have got his legs back now. Smiley shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Roloson as he avoids it easily. Smiley moves into the clinch successfully.

The two fighters roll across the mat, with Roloson trying to push Smiley off... Roloson taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
