Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Johnny Williams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mamed Khalidov! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Khalidov fails with the takedown and Williams counters with a left to the body. Williams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Khalidov swivels and escapes. Williams shoots in but no luck this time. Johnny Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Khalidov's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Khalidov duly obliges. Khalidov looks winded! Khalidov is looking to clinch but Williams is avoiding it.
Williams shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Khalidov but Khalidov pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him. Khalidov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Khalidov wants to clinch. Williams looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Williams. Khalidov shoots and misses and Williams counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Khalidov thinking. Khalidov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Williams manages to get to full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Khalidov has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far. Williams moves into range and clinches up with Khalidov.

Williams pulls guard effortlessly. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Khalidov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Williams controlling the position. Williams looking to hit a scissor sweep but Khalidov is one step ahead there. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Williams is looking to stand up but Khalidov isn't so interested in that idea. Williams seems keen to control Khalidov's posture. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Williams closes this distance looking for a takedown but Khalidov circles away. Khalidov slaps away a takedown attempt from Williams, before circling back to the center of the mat. Khalidov is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Khalidov throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Williams fails in his attempt to clinch. Williams fails with a takedown attempt. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Khalidov looks to land a left hand but Williams moved out of range nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mamed Khalidov dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Williams shoots in and drives through. Khalidov sprawls well. Khalidov tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Williams fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Williams scores with the left hand. Khalidov knows he should have avoided that one. Khalidov has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Williams rushes Khalidov and presses him up against the ropes. Khalidov goes for a takedown attempt but Williams pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Khalidov unleashes a big counter combination but Williams bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Williams shoots for a double leg takedown but Khalidov sprawls well. That's two minutes gone in the round. Khalidov wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Williams wants to get back to his feet but Khalidov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Khalidov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Khalidov goes for a double leg but Williams avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Williams continues to drive forward. Williams closes this distance looking for a takedown but Khalidov circles away. Williams has closed the distance and engaged Khalidov in a clinch.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Williams wants to sweep here but Khalidov controlling him for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Khalidov drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Williams dives on top into guard.
Williams has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Williams tries to free his leg and advance position but Khalidov is retaining full guard. Williams missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Williams wants to control from the top but Khalidov keeps moving. Williams won't allow Khalidov to sweep him here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Williams gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Williams rushes Khalidov and presses him up against the ropes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Williams dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Williams fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Khalidov, pushing him back against the ropes. Williams manages to pull guard.
Williams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Williams trying to control from half guard but Khalidov is working away. Khalidov actively working from the bottom here. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Khalidov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Khalidov wants to control but Williams is keeping busy.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Williams can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Khalidov is looking to escape. Williams is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Khalidov has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Williams takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Williams has control of Khalidov's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Khalidov regains control of the situation pretty easily.
