Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Omari Akhmedov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akhmedov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Jason Derulo - . Smith has chosen Jocelyn Alice - Jackpot as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
An attempted straight right counter from Akhmedov misses the target.
Akhmedov on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Smith lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Akhmedov moves away.

And Smith responds with a good body kick, but Akhmedov manages to step out the way in time.

We've been told by Akhmedov's head coaches at LOD: Ground Zero that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Smith is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Akhmedov rather than just go for the knockout.
Akhmedov throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Smith scores with a head kick. Akhmedov tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Smith uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Akhmedov.
Smith throws a lazy right hand but Akhmedov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Akhmedov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Akhmedov scores with a sloppy right hand. Smith should have avoided that one.

Smith is rocked!
Akhmedov lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Smith up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Akhmedov from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Smith's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
