Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Akira Ishikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fourie Du Preez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishikawa comes to the cage accompanied by mindshift genki sudo. Du Preez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Niggas In Paris. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

40 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Ishikawa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fourie Du Preez! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Du Preez takes the fight into the clinch. Du Preez manages to break the clinch.

It looks like Akira Ishikawa has been cut. Du Preez lands the left hand. Decent striking displayed by Du Preez there. Ishikawa darts in looking for a takedown but Du Preez gets double underhooks and turns Ishikawa into the cage. Ishikawa takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
A combination from Du Preez does no damage. Ishikawa fails to land the takedown. Fourie Du Preez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Du Preez throws a series of punches but Ishikawa avoids them all with ease. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ishikawa tries to clinch there but Du Preez circles away.
Du Preez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Du Preez drops Ishikawa with a nice combination! Du Preez dives into Ishikawa's guard, looking to finish!
Ishikawa is rocked! Du Preez connects with a couple of short punches. Oh Ishikawa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ishikawa is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Ishikawa seems to have got his legs back now. Ishikawa has Du Preez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Du Preez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akira Ishikawa. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ishikawa seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Du Preez can turn it around. Du Preez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Du Preez gets a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ishikawa drops down looking for an ankle pick but Du Preez pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ishikawa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Du Preez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Du Preez flicks out a counter leg kick but Ishikawa steps away. A head kick by Du Preez misses and Ishikawa counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Ishikawa has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Du Preez finds it's way round the side to connect with Ishikawa's head.
Akira Ishikawa's cut is getting worse. Du Preez throws a head kick that misses. Du Preez looks to land a combination but Ishikawa avoids it well. Ishikawa throws a quick counter head kick but Du Preez was just out of range. Ishikawa shoots in and bounces Du Preez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ishikawa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Du Preez swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ishikawa chips away with some ground and pound. Ishikawa trying to control the position from guard on top but Du Preez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ishikawa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Du Preez is working an open guard so Ishikawa takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Du Preez lands a two punch combo.
Ishikawa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Du Preez, pushing him back against the cage. Du Preez is trying to break the clinch but Ishikawa has him pressed against the cage. Du Preez gets underhooks to prevent Ishikawa's takedown attempt.

Ishikawa tries to score a body lock takedown but Du Preez shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Ishikawa slowing the pace effectively. Ishikawa avoiding damage.
Ishikawa wants to take the fight to the mat but Du Preez manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Ishikawa turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ishikawa manages to end up in side control. Du Preez can't do much from the bottom here. Ishikawa laying and praying for a moment but Du Preez takes advantage and regains half guard. Ishikawa has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. This has been an exciting period of action! Du Preez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Du Preez. Ishikawa tries to free his leg and advance position but Du Preez is retaining full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fourie Du Preez dominated that round. The cut man is working on Akira Ishikawa's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Du Preez drops Ishikawa with a right and a left! Du Preez comes rushing in but Ishikawa regains his composure and manages to keep Du Preez in guard.

Ishikawa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Du Preez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Du Preez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ishikawa's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ishikawa wants to stand and escape but Du Preez is having none of it. Du Preez landing some decent shots from guard. Du Preez sitting in guard here, content to control. Ishikawa wants to stand but Du Preez is controlling the position. Ishikawa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. In defeat, Akira Ishikawa stepped up to the mic, saying 'It happens let's try again'.
