Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 40 - 35 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bryan Bishop!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bishop has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
O Neil jabbing away but nothing is landing.
O Neil throws a nice looking combination but Bishop bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
And Bishop tries to counter it with a takedown but O Neil pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Bishop drops down looking to force a counter takedown but O Neil defends it well.
O Neil misses the shot to the body.
O Neil lands a head shot.
O Neil throws a jab when Bishop was well out of range.
The fighters circling - O Neil throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

O Neil has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

O Neil is staying active underneath Bishop, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bishop thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed O Neil's head.
O Neil wants to control but Bishop is keeping busy.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bishop doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
O Neil throws a jab but it's blocked by Bishop.
Bishop has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from O Neil finds it's way round the side to connect with Bishop's head.

and Bishop takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
O Neil throws a combination that misses

and Bishop counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bishop.
O Neil is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
O Neil looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bishop is one step ahead there.

and Bishop counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Bishop is standing up over O Neil. O Neil looks to escape but Bishop dives into side control.

You can see the frustration on O Neil's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A lull in the action here as Bishop stalls from top position.
Bishop throws a strike aimed at the side of O Neil's head but O Neil avoids it well.

O Neil throws a looping overhand right but Bishop ducks down to avoid it.
O Neil stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
