PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ze Minotauro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiu Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Minotauro comes into the arena with Buckethead - jump man blaring out of the sound system. Jitsu has chosen Nikkfurie- The a la Menthe as his entrance music. Jiu Jitsu will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 34 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ze Minotauro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jiu Jitsu!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minotauro displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jitsu.
Minotauro is looking to counter punch.
Jitsu takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Minotauro tries to score with a low kick but Jitsu moves his leg out of the way.
Jitsu fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jitsu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Minotauro sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jitsu somewhat.
Ze Minotauro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jiu Jitsu.
Jitsu tries for a takedown but Minotauro sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Minotauro has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Minotauro lands a left and a right that send Jitsu crashing to the mat, dazed. Minotauro thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Jitsu is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Minotauro stuffs the takedown attempt from Jitsu. Jitsu gets slowly back to his feet.

Jitsu shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jitsu was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That's one minute gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Minotauro's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Minotauro manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jitsu's best efforts.
Minotauro holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Jitsu seems to be working for a kimura but Minotauro defends the submission attempt.

Minotauro might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Minotauro tries to get to full guard but Jitsu has control of the leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Minotauro moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Minotauro tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jitsu trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Minotauro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jitsu is one step ahead there.
Jitsu wants to pass the guard but Minotauro is keeping the position.
Jitsu wants to control from the top but Minotauro keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Minotauro is on top in guard.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Minotauro postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Minotauro throws a big right hand that misses.
Minotauro is working Jitsu over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Minotauro is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Minotauro trying to control but Jitsu is working from the bottom.

Jitsu is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jitsu is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Minotauro wants to control from the top but Jitsu keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Minotauro postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Minotauro trying to control the position from guard on top but Jitsu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Jitsu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Minotauro defends it easily.
Minotauro looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Minotauro sizes up Jitsu with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ze Minotauro dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Jitsu bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jitsu shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Minotauro defends it nicely.
Jitsu tries for a takedown but Minotauro circles away easily
and Minotauro counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Jitsu thinking.
Minotauro slaps away a takedown attempt from Jitsu, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ze Minotauro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jiu Jitsu.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jitsu tries for a takedown but Minotauro sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Minotauro looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Minotauro throws a shot from downtown. Jitsu moves away and avoids it.
Jitsu misses with a takedown attempt

and Minotauro counters with a crisp right hand that drops Jitsu! Minotauro lets Jitsu back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Jitsu is still on wobbly legs! Can Minotauro finish him?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Minotauro throws a low kick but Jitsu moves out of range easily.
Jitsu feints the counter takedown.
Minotauro misses with a two punch combination.
Jiu Jitsu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Minotauro lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Jitsu - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Minotauro!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ze Minotauro!
Our winner, Ze Minotauro, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
