Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kedar Dere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Northcutt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel Northcutt is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dere gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Northcutt holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Northcutt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Northcutt moves into the clinch.
Northcutt has Dere pressed against the cage, preventing Dere from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Dere creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
A short body shot lands from Northcutt as the two fighters clinch.

Northcutt has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dere uses from the top position.
Dere throws an elbow that misses. Northcutt uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dere's guard. Nice move by Northcutt!

Northcutt won't allow Dere to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dere is looking for a triangle here but Northcutt uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Dere is breathing heavily.

Northcutt is working to tighten his grip on Dere's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Dere has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Northcutt is really squeezing tight and eventually Dere passes out! Northcutt breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
