PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alex Trager (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Renner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trager comes to the cage accompanied by Bang Bang. Renner is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by God Particle. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Trager!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeremy Renner!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trager shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Renner manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Trager manages to get himself to full guard.


Trager has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Renner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Trager is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Trager might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Trager is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Renner pulls his head out easily.
Renner slips a nice elbow through Trager's hands, connecting with Trager's forehead.
Trager wants to control but Renner is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Trager definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Renner looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Trager with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Renner winds up and cracks Trager with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Renner works his foot free and advances to mount.
You get the feeling that Trager really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Trager wants to hold on but Renner pushes him away.
Trager is trying to stand.
Renner lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Trager sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Renner seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Renner lands a nice short elbow.

Trager takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Trager is looking for a sweep. Renner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Renner is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Renner lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Renner is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Renner connects with a nice short shot to Trager's temple.

Renner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Trager keeps working.

Renner wants to take a breather but Trager manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Renner.

Trager is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Renner defends well.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Trager dives in and grabs Renner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Renner pushes down on Trager's head and hops out.
Trager throws the kick towards the body but Renner avoids it.

Alex Trager is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Renner stuns Trager with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jeremy Renner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Renner keeps the fight on the outside.
Trager throws a head kick that misses.
Renner tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Trager is able to avoid easily.
Trager seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Renner closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Trager's guard.
Trager is looking to stand back up but Renner counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Trager.

Alex Trager really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Zenith Nutrition (160q) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
