PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Klutschok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Meacham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frank Klutschok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Barry Meacham!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meacham keeps the fight on the outside.
Klutschok moves out of range as Meacham strikes.
Klutschok shoots in looking for a takedown. Meacham tries to sprawl out of it but Klutschok keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Meacham manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice sprawl there from Meacham as Klutschok shoots in.

Meacham takes the fight into the clinch.
Meacham misses with a short punch on the inside.

Klutschok breaks the clinch.
Klutschok throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Meacham's waist but Meacham gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Klutschok off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Klutschok. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Klutschok clinches up with Meacham and pushes him back against the cage.
Meacham unloads a knee to the mid-section. Klutschok lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Meacham has eaten all the pies!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Meacham seems keen to control Klutschok's posture.
Klutschok trying to stand up but can't free himself from Meacham's guard.

Klutschok thows a big elbow that misses.
Meacham is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Meacham wants to get back to his feet.
Klutschok wants to improve his position but Meacham is controlling well.
Meacham working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Klutschok is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Klutschok is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Meacham drops back looking for a leg! Klutschok is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Klutschok manages to kick Meacham off! Meacham jumps back into Klutschok's guard.
Meacham passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Meacham passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Klutschok!

Meacham working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Meacham manages to capitalize on a mistake by Klutschok to take his back!
Klutschok rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Klutschok is looking for a sweep. Meacham is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Meacham seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Meacham prevents Klutschok from improving his position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Meacham stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Klutschok to get to his feet.
Meacham wants to clinch up but Klutschok keeps it at a distance.
Meacham shoots and misses

and Klutschok counters by moving into the clinch.
Meacham has Klutschok pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Klutschok manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Klutschok pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Klutschok gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Meacham counters with a low kick, right behind Klutschok 's knee.
Klutschok misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Horrible takedown by Meacham or perhaps it was just good defense by Klutschok which made him look bad.

Meacham changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Klutschok looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Klutschok is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Meacham is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Meacham shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Meacham was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Meacham can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Klutschok is looking to escape.

Meacham with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Meacham scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Klutschok is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Meacham tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Meacham tries to close the distance and clinch up but Klutschok swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Meacham jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Klutschok walks away with a smile on his face. Meacham gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Meacham dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Klutschok. That did some damage!
Meacham moves in looking to clinch but Klutschok pushes him off.

and Meacham counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Klutschok wants to get back to full guard.
Klutschok is in trouble now - Meacham has advanced to mount!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Klutschok breaks Meacham's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Barry Meacham comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Meacham has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
