Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Glass Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grzegorz Rundowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rundowski is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: A$AP Rocky - Goldie. Grzegorz Rundowski is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Grzegorz Rundowski!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joe fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Rundowski throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sloppy strikes from Rundowski. Those never looked like landing.

Rundowski closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Joe quickly recovers to half guard.
Joe wants to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Joe tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Rundowski has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Joe is working to get back to half guard.

Rundowski looking to control but Joe is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Joe is trying desperately to improve position.
Joe takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Rundowski lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Rundowski lands a couple of good shots and Joe has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Rundowski is hanging on to Joe's back as he tries to escape.
Joe is working hard here to advance position.

Rundowski working for a choke but Joe is defending well.
Joe wants to escape the position.

Rundowski lands strikes to the head.
Rundowski lands with a hammerfist to the side of Joe's head.


Joe is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Joe trying to control the hands but Rundowski won't let him.
Joe is really stuck here.
Joe turns into Rundowski and is now in his guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Joe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Joe lands a couple of elbows.
Joe lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Rundowski is looking to stand up but Joe isn't so interested in that idea.

Rundowski is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Joe won't allow Rundowski to sweep him here.
Joe landing some decent shots from guard.

Rundowski looking for a guillotine here but Joe defends easily.

Rundowski working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Joe has passed into half guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Joe is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Joe is trying to control. Rundowski wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Joe winds up and cracks Rundowski with a swinging punch to the side of the head.


Rundowski is rocked!
Joe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rundowski with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Rundowski is still in real trouble! Can Joe finish him?
Joe lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Rundowski quite badly. Rundowski pulls Joe in close trying to recover. Joe postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Rundowski on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Rundowski doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Glass Joe!
Glass Joe is the new middleweight champion!
After the fight, Glass Joe was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
Grzegorz Rundowski spoke after the fight, saying 'I didn't know it s MMA fight, fought it's BJJ turnament :('.
