PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James Crown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by John Carter of Mars. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Crown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Carter!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter dodges the punch combination from Crown.
Nice sprawl there from Carter as Crown shoots in.
Crown closes the distance looking to clinch
and Carter counters with a nice uppercut.
Crown takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Carter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carter wants it to stay on the feet.

Carter moves into range and clinches up with Crown.
The referee is keeping an eye on Carter - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Crown really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crown takes a shot to the head.
Carter throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Crowns head.

Crown tries to break free but Carter pushes him back against the cage.
Crown tries for a takedown but Carter manages to get underhooks.

Crown is looking to break free of the clinch but Carter has double underhooks.
We've been informed that Carter has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Crown jumps guard but Carter stands there with Crown around his waist. Crown gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Crown goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Carter has had enough of the clinch but Crown keeps him there for the moment.
Crown drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Carter gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Crown's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Crown shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carter but Carter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Crown steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Carter.
Crown tries to close the distance and clinch up but Carter swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Carter appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Carter misses with a hook. Crown ducked under it nicely.
Carter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Crown.
A nice side step and Carter releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Crown is breathing heavily.
Crown fails with an attempt to clinch.
John Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Crown shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carter sprawls well. Carter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Crown gets slowly back to his feet.
Crown uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Carter.
Crown throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carter's waist but Carter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Crown off to one side.
Carter lands with an overhand left.
Carter lands a nice hook to Crown's body. Crown takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Carter lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Crown backs up against the cage.

and Carter counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Carter cracks a nice hook into Crown's ribs.
Carter dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Carter looks to land a combination but Crown avoids it well.

Carter takes the fight into the clinch.

Carter makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Carter lands a nice shot to the body.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Carter is leaning against Crown and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Carter lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Crown backwards.
Crown takes a shot to the head.
Crown trying to stall but Carter improves his position.

Crown dives in for a single leg takedown but Carter sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Carter fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Crown looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Carter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Crown is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Carter.
Crown uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carter.
James Crown is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Carter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Crown.
Carter swings for the body but Crown moves out of range.

John Carter seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Crown is rocked!

Oh Crown is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Carter lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Crown backwards.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Carter creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Crown misses with a hook to the ribs.
Crown has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Carter after a bit of a struggle.

Carter dips a shoulder and cracks Crown with a mighty uppercut! Crown falls back against the cage and Carter unloads with a barrage of strikes! Crown is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Carter screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Carter!
John Carter decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
