Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Appleton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iain Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Appleton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Iain Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Appleton pushes Anderson away with a front kick.
Anderson slips a jab and a cross from Appleton.
Appleton staying out of range there.
Appleton looks to land a combination but Anderson avoids it well.

Appleton rushes Anderson and presses him up against the cage.

Anderson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Anderson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Appleton misses with a two punch combination.

Appleton gets tackled into the cage by Anderson. Anderson maintains the clinch.

Anderson manages to break the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Appleton is defended easily by Anderson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

No luck for Appleton with that takedown attempt.

Anderson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Appleton has time to react.
Anderson tries to clinch
and Appleton counters with a series of strikes. Anderson will be more careful next time no doubt.

Anderson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Appleton tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Anderson is in Appleton's guard.
Anderson throws a big elbow that misses.
Anderson tries to free his leg and advance position but Appleton is retaining full guard.
Anderson wants to control from the top but Appleton keeps moving.
Anderson is in close to Appleton's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Anderson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Appleton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Anderson throws a big right hand that misses.
Anderson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Appleton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Anderson on the ground.

Appleton has momentary wrist control but Anderson slips an elbow through the middle.
Appleton avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Anderson with a flurry of punches that miss.
Anderson passes Appleton's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Appleton is breathing heavily.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Anderson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Appleton's head.

Anderson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Anderson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Appleton taking some punishment here, with Anderson in his half guard.
Anderson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Appleton is trying to stand.
Anderson controlling the action here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Iain Anderson dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Anderson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Anderson lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Anderson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Appleton's calf.
Anderson goes for a double leg but Appleton avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Appleton continues to drive forward.
Appleton steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Anderson.
Appleton tries to clinch up but Anderson circles away and keeps his distance.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Anderson, right into the meat.
Appleton lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Anderson works Appleton's body with a nice hook.
Appleton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Anderson circles away quickly and effectively.
Appleton scores with a one two! Anderson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Appleton throws a series of punches but Anderson moves out of range.
Anderson scores with a hook.
Appleton steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Anderson.
Iain Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A decent looking cross lands there for Anderson.


Appleton is rocked!


It looks like Carlos Appleton has been cut.
Appleton looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Oh Appleton is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Anderson feints and then cracks Appleton's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Appleton down.
A head kick by Anderson - that's a beauty! Appleton is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Anderson can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Iain Anderson!
