The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by Dave.
Dave lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Dave.
Dave misses with a combination

and Acevedo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Dave kicks off Acevedo and gets to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Acevedo forces Dave back against the cage and clinches.

Dave escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A solid body kick from Dave.

and Acevedo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Dancing Dave seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dave feints and as Acevedo raises his hands in defense, Dave changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Dave fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Acevedo, pushing him back against the cage.

Dave wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Acevedo has him pressed against the cage.

Acevedo tries for a takedown but Dave manages to get underhooks.
Dave lands with a left to the head.
Dave prevents a takedown attempt there.
Dave tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Acevedo's elbow.

Acevedo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dave throws a leg kick which misses Acevedo's front leg but catches the back leg as Acevedo tries to avoid it.
Dave moves out of range as Acevedo strikes.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Dave pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Acevedo is looking for a counter combo.

Dave pushes Acevedo up against the cage in a clinch.
Dave is pushing Acevedo up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Acevedo decides to pull guard.

Acevedo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Acevedo wants to take the fight to the mat but Dave manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Acevedo has picked Dave up - he's going for a ride! Acevedo dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Dave has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Acevedo is on him like a limpet, forcing Dave back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dave wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Acevedo.
Dave is trying to push Acevedo away but Acevedo has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Acevedo has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Dave clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Dave is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Acevedo really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Dave.

Acevedo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Acevedo controlling the position well here. Dave rolled but Acevedo kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Dave looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
I would not like to be Dave right now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Acevedo is looking for a takedown.

Acevedo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Acevedo has Dave pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Acevedo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Dave tumbling to the mat - Acevedo dives into Dave's guard.

Acevedo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Acevedo gets to his feet - Dave follows without any prompting.
Dave pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Dave moves into the clinch.
Acevedo's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Acevedo is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dennis Acevedo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dave is trying to maintain a safe position but Acevedo gets an underhook and turns Dave into the cage.
Dave unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Acevedo has Dave pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dave manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Dave struggles to land a body shot inside as Acevedo controls his hands.

Acevedo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Dave can't fight it off and eventually Acevedo manages to take the fight to the floor. Dave looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dave holds on and takes a little breather.
