Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alexander Stubb! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Razval Saraev! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stubb tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Saraev paws at him with a jab and circles away. Stubb instigates a clinch. Saraev tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Stubb's elbow. Stubb digs a right hand into Saraev's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Saraev's gas tank. Stubb pushes Saraev back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Come on Stubb - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Stubb lands a body punch. Saraev wants a takedown but no success here.

A short right from Stubb on the inside. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stubb escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Saraev takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Stubb tries to clinch but Saraev is having none of it. Stubb ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Saraev moves away. We've been told by Stubb's head coaches at DiscoClub that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Alexander Stubb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stubb tries to clinch but Saraev moves out of range. Saraev takes one to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stubb fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Stubb pushes Saraev up against the cage in a clinch. Stubb taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Stubb tries to work over Saraev's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Stubb creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Saraev is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Stubb misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Saraev tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Saraev has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Stubb regains guard immediately. Saraev preventing the sweep. Saraev stops Stubb from standing up. Saraev throws a big right hand that misses. Saraev with a nice head shot there. Saraev controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stubb wants to get back to his feet but Saraev is in a dominant position and won't allow it. My spies in English Top Team - THE Hybrid Gym (11 ELITE ) inform me that Saraev has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Saraev throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stubb works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Saraev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Saraev lands a couple of elbows. Stubb keeping full guard, as Saraev tries to pass. Saraev scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Saraev is looking to work some ground and pound but Stubb has wrist control. Saraev throwing strikes but missing.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Stubb avoids the body shot from Saraev.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stubb paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Stubb tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Stubb tries to clinch and Saraev counters with a lovely straight right hand! Saraev manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Stubb on his heels. He'll look to pass Stubb's guard now, I'm sure. Stubb is trying to keep Saraev in close.
Saraev throws an elbow that misses. Stubb uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Saraev's guard. Nice move by Stubb! Saraev is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Saraev manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stubb manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Stubb is trying to control the position but Saraev postures up. Saraev trying to control but Stubb is working from the bottom. Saraev trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Stubb trying to keep a closed guard but Saraev is proving a slippery customer.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Saraev accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Saraev is looking to work some ground and pound but Stubb has wrist control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stubb works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Saraev ducks under a wild hook from Stubb. Saraev tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stubb was well out of range. Poor timing from Saraev. Stubb seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Stubb misses with a wild body shot. Stubb connects with a right hand. Saraev shakes it off. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stubb looks to score with a jab to the body but Saraev is just out of range. Stubb throws out a loose jab but Saraev uses good head movement to avoid it. Saraev steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Stubb. Saraev on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Stubb jabs at Saraev's body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Stubb lands a big right hand that sends Saraev crashing to the mat! Stubb stays standing though and waves Saraev back to his feet!

Saraev takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Saraev throws a body shot but no joy. Stubb lands with a straight right. Saraev didn't see that one coming. Saraev swings for the body but Stubb moves out of range.
Stubb throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Stubb throws an overhand right that drops Saraev like a sack of potatoes! Stubb dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
