The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freely feints and as Berdich raises his hands in defense, Freely changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Berdich is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Freely is aware though and is defending well.
Berdich is trying to keep Freely in close.
Berdich had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Freely defends it easily.
Freely tries to free his leg and advance position but Berdich is retaining full guard.
Freely passes into half guard.
Berdich is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Rape Academy (7 elite, 6 2x elite) that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Freely is working for a kimura but Berdich is defending it quite comfortably.
Freely tries to pass the half guard into mount. Berdich knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Freely wants to control but Berdich is keeping him busy.
Berdich tries to get to full guard but Freely has control of the leg.
The fighters are battling for position here. Berdich manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Freely wants to pass the guard but Berdich is keeping the position.
Freely drops back looking for a leg! Berdich is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Berdich manages to kick Freely off! Freely jumps back into Berdich's guard.
Freely postures up in Berdich's guard and throws a big left but Berdich blocks it.
Berdich has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Freely is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Berdich.
Freely has hold of Berdich's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Berdich seems comfortable defending it but Freely has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Berdich is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Berdich is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Freely couldn't care less - he's delighted!
