Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clyde Garrison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Santito Junior! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Junior fails with an attempt to clinch.
Garrison tries to clinch but Junior moves away and Junior counters with a three punch combo that has Garrison backing up. Garrison nods at Junior to acknowledge the strikes. Garrison shoots for a takedown but Junior saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Junior throws a big counter head kick but Garrison avoids it with no problem. Junior closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Garrison to the mat! Garrison manages to get full guard. Garrison can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Junior controls the pace. Garrison will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Junior is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Junior content to stall in guard here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like Junior might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Junior pushing down on Garrison's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Junior performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Junior lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Junior is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Garrison! Junior controlling from mount. Garrison sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Garrison tries to roll over but Junior keeps him under control. Junior is taking a breather. Garrison says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Junior maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Garrison could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Junior has cracked it and Garrison is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Junior!
