Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rangi Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Williamson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williamson has chosen Iggy Pop - Lust For Life as his entrance music. Rangi Smith has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Simon Williamson!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williamson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Smith can't find room to land a body shot as Williamson controls the action.
Smith swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Smith is pushing Williamson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Smith pushes off an throws an elbow but Williamson leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Williamson tries to throw a body punch but Smith avoids it by throwing Williamson back against the cage.

Williamson lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Smith sprawling to the canvas. Williamson follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Smith hang on?


It looks like Rangi Smith has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith is rocked!
Smith tries to roll over but Williamson keeps him under control.
Williamson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Smith defending well though.
Well, if Williamson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Williamson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Smith feints a jab promting Williamson to slip. Smith then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Williamson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Smith throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Williamson on the side of the head.

A close round but Simon Williamson will probably get the nod.

That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Smith throws an overhand right that lands on Williamson's shoulder, as Williamson tries to avoid the shot.

and Smith counters with a lovely shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Simon Williamson has been cut.

Williamson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Smith manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
