PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vin Diesel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adams has chosen Rihanna - So Hard as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vin Diesel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Tim Adams!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Adams pushes Diesel up against the cage in a clinch.

Adams breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Diesel closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Nice sprawl there from Adams as Diesel shoots in.
Adams lands a jab-cross combination.
Diesel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Diesel doesn't manage to clinch there - Adams circles away.
Adams tries to land a front kick but Diesel steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diesel shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Adams napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Diesel prevents Adams from escaping the position.
Adams sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Diesel wants to pass the guard but Adams is defending well.
Diesel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Diesel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Adams on the ground.
Diesel is trying to control the action in half guard but Adams is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Diesel working over Adams with some ground and pound. Adams looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Adams wants to get back to full guard.
Adams keeping control of the position.
Diesel stops Adams from getting back to his feet.

Adams manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Diesel keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Adams has picked Diesel up - he's going for a ride! Adams dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Diesel pushes Adams off but Adams dives into side control.

Adams scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Diesel to see if he's OK.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Adams is looking to take a break and control but Diesel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Adams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Adams cracks Diesel with a big right hand but Diesel just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Diesel is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Diesel takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Diesel taking a bit of punishment here - Adams scoring with strikes.
Adams landing strikes.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
I've been told that Adams has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.
Diesel tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Adams wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Adams in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Diesel struggling a bit here.
Diesel on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Adams scores with a couple of short elbows.

Adams connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Diesel some visible discomfort.

Adams cracks Diesel with a big right hand but Diesel just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Oh Diesel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Adams has hold of Diesel's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Diesel seems comfortable defending it but Adams has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Diesel is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Diesel is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Adams couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tim Adams!
