Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keven Mathis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tarik Black!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mathis fails in his attempt to clinch.
And Black tries to counter it with a takedown but Mathis pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Mathis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mathis scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Black lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Mathis is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Black pulls his head out easily.
Mathis has hold of Black's hands but Black slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Black prevents Mathis from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Black really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mathis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mathis is working hard here to advance position.
Black scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Black decides to return to a standing position.
Mathis fails with an attempt to clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Black! But no joy.

Black has Mathis up against the cage in a clinch.
Black turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Black manages to end up in side control.
Mathis manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Mathis is thwarting Black's attempts to control the position.
Black manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Mathis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Black to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Black working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Black throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Mathis looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Black working some strikes from top position.
Mathis looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Black passes into side control.
Black trying to control the position but Mathis is working away.
Mathis is looking for a sweep.
Black stands up.
Black manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mathis on his heels. He'll look to pass Mathis's guard now, I'm sure.
Mathis manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Black gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Mathis regains guard.
Mathis is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Black gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mathis.
Black gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Mathis tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Black has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mathis is desperately trying to improve his position but Black has a good base and remains in mount.
Mathis is in a horrible position here. Black smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Mathis wants to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Black landing strikes from the mount.
Mathis is rocked!
Black cracks Mathis with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
