PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kash Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Solis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kash Singh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alexander Solis!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Solis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Singh sprawls well. Singh wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Solis gets slowly back to his feet.

Solis rushes Singh and presses him up against the cage.
Solis is trying to pull guard but Singh has him pressed against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

A bit of stalling here from Solis.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Solis lands a hook to the side of the head.
Solis displaying some good clinch control by pressing Singh up against the cage.
Singh goes for a takedown in the clinch but Solis prevents it.

Solis tries to pull guard but Singh won't allow it.
Kash Singh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Solis.

Solis tightens his grip and picks Singh up, before dumping him to the ground. Singh manages to land in guard.

Singh is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Solis presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Singh is pressed up against the cage. Solis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Singh down to the mat. Singh avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Solis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Singh tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Solis thuds a left hand into Singh's body.
Singh misses with a wild combination.
Singh goes for a double leg but Solis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Solis continues to drive forward.

Some bone on bone action there as Singh checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Solis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Singh pinned against the cage. Singh gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Singh blocks a head kick by Solis.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Singh slaps away a takedown attempt from Solis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Singh throws a right hand that Solis ducks under and follows up with a left that Solis also avoids with ease.

Solis instigates a clinch.
Solis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Singh just stands there and leans against the cage.
Solis should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Solis pulls guard successfully.
Singh makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Solis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Singh is controlling him.
Solis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Singh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Singh gets to his feet. Solis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Solis gets a double leg takedown into Singh's guard.

Singh has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Solis off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Solis shoots for a takedown but Singh saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Singh throws a series of strikes that have Solis backpedaling.
Solis dives in for a single leg takedown but Singh sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Solis shoots in looking for a takedown. Singh tries to sprawl out of it but Solis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Singh manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Solis is pressed up against the cage. Singh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Solis down to the mat. Solis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Solis drives through with a takedown into guard.
Singh is breathing heavily.
Solis wants to control from the top but Singh keeps moving.
Solis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Singh haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Solis wants to get up but he can't break Singh's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kash Singh will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Singh seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Solis tries for a takedown but Singh sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Singh feinted with a counter takedown.
Solis punishes Singh's body with a nice straight punch.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Solis checks a leg kick.
Singh shoots in looking for a takedown but Solis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Singh's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A combination from Solis does no damage.
Singh seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Singh checks a low kick from Solis.
Solis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Solis fails with the takedown

and Singh decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Solis's guard.
Kash Singh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Solis.

Singh gets to his feet - Solis follows without any prompting.
Singh goes for a double leg but Solis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Solis continues to drive forward.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Singh misses with a looping left.
Solis throws a leg kick but Singh moved away.

Solis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Singh gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Solis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Singh walks away with a smile on his face. Solis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Singh tries to keep at a distance but Solis has taken the fight into the clinch.

Solis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Singh throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Solis counters with a straight right hand.
Singh doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Solis counters with a two punch combo.
Nice sprawl there from Singh as Solis shoots in.

Solis pulls Singh into guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Solis can do anything to dispel that myth.
Singh postures up.
Kash Singh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Solis working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Singh has passed into half guard!
Solis wants to improve his position but Singh is controlling well.

Solis has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Singh is on him like a limpet, forcing Solis back against the cage.

Solis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Singh fails to pull guard.
Singh pushes off an throws an elbow but Solis leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Solis jumps guard and drags Singh to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Solis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Solis looking to score a takedown here. Singh is defending well but Solis drives through and ends up in Singh's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Singh manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Solis lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Singh backwards.

Solis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Solis scoring well with a low kick there.
Singh misses with a takedown attempt
and Solis counters with a three punch combo that has Singh backing up. Singh nods at Solis to acknowledge the strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Horrible takedown attempt by Singh or perhaps it was just good defense by Solis, which made it look bad.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kash Singh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Solis.

Solis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Singh parries the strikes from Solis easily there. Solis is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Singh to escape.
Solis wants to control but Singh is keeping him busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Solis has closed the distance and engaged Singh in a clinch.

Solis lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Solis stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Singh to get to his feet.

Solis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Alexander Solis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Solis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
