Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Short (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barack Obama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Short! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Barack Obama! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Obama closes the distance and pushes Short back into the cage. Short wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Obama has him pressed against the cage. Obama dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Obama manages to pull guard.
Obama is pulling down on Short's head to control his posture. Short is working Obama over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Obama pulls Short in close to prevent any damage. Obama looking for a sweep. Not yet Obama, not yet. Short has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Obama not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Obama manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Short is looking for a takedown. Obama changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Short fights it off and pushes away nicely.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Short tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Short is trying to pull guard but Obama has him pressed against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Short. That's going to take a lot out of him. Obama gets control of Short's arms and successfully pulls guard. Obama will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Short throwing strikes from guard but Obama blocks nicely. Short in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Obama has momentary wrist control but Short slips an elbow through the middle. Obama is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Obama stops Short from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Obama is looking to advance position but Short won't allow it. Short is looking to control Obama's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Short avoid being mounted? Obama not doing much here.
Short is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Short wants to control but Obama is keeping busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Short blocking the ground and pound attempt from Obama. Obama controlling the pace.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Obama gets in close and instigates a clinch. Obama leaning against his opponent.
Short pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Short gets tackled into the cage by Obama. Obama maintains the clinch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Obama breaks the clinch.
Obama moves into the clinch. Short has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Barack Obama dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Obama. Obama shoots in for a takedown but Short shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Short lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Obama gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Short jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Obama walks away with a smile on his face. Short gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Short is looking to take this fight into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Obama has his takedown stuffed and Short counters with a lovely straight right hand! David Short has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barack Obama. Short moves into range and clinches up with Obama.
That's one minute gone in the round. Short tries to pull guard but Obama forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Short tries a knee to the head but Obama blocks it.

Short pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Short lands with a short shot to the head. Short is trying to break the clinch but Obama has him pressed against the cage. Short successfully pulls guard.

Obama controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Let's hope that Obama has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Obama. Obama wants to pass the guard but Short is keeping the position. Obama wants to control from the top but Short keeps moving.

Obama wants to counter the offense by Short and move into the clinch position. Obama has taken the fight to the clinch.

Short is looking to take this one to the mat. Short has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Short has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Obama after a bit of a struggle. Short is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Obama holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Obama is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Short to keep the fight standing. Obama tries for a takedown. No joy.
Obama is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Short pulls him back up using the underhooks. Short working hard to break the clinch. Obama drags the fight down to the ground.
Obama has his foot on Short's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Short works his way back into a safe position though. Obama is breathing heavily. Obama wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Short is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Obama is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Short defends well. Short stopping the sweep attempt from Obama. Obama is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Short lands a couple of decent looking shots. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Short loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Obama avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Obama has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Obama has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Short has passed into side control.
Short is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Obama is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Obama manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Short looks like he's trying to stand up.
Obama not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Short has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Obama is working away from the top position though. Obama throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Short to regain full guard. Obama working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Obama gets to his feet. Short looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Obama with a poor takedown and Short counters with a head kick. Obama dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Short. That did some damage! Short could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Obama gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Short counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Obama thinking. Obama takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Obama shoots in for a takedown but Short shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Obama tries to score a power double leg takedown but Short sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Obama somewhat. Short is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Short leaves Obama with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. And Short counters with a quick kick to the body but Obama blocks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Obama blocks a leg kick. Horrible takedown attempt by Obama or perhaps it was just good defense by Short, which made it look bad. Short lands with a kick to the temple. Obama shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Short throws a half hearted mid kick. David Short is winning the standup battle so far. Short pushes Obama up against the cage in a clinch. Short gets underhooks to prevent Obama's takedown attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! David Short showed his dominance in that final round. I think Short has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
