Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dante Gael Roman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben Miller! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miller throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Roman lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Miller backs up against the cage.
Miller misses with a body punch
and Roman counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Roman misses with a two punch combination.
Good leg kick by Miller there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Miller misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Roman.
Roman tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Miller manages to circle out of the way. Miller misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Roman.
Roman blocks a low kick nicely. Roman misses with a hook. Miller tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Miller thumps Roman with a low kick. Miller slips a straight right by Roman. Roman connects with a good right hand that stumbles Miller. Miller circles away out of range and recomposes himself. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Miller comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Miller connects with a solid leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roman checks a leg kick. Miller walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. A jab from Miller misses. Roman is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Roman misses with an uppercut. Roman tries a low kick but Miller avoids it. Miller avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Miller takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Miller pivots, looking for a leg kick but Roman is out of range and Miller settles back down. Miller throws a low kick, looking for Roman's leg but Roman calmly moves out of range. Roman seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Miller thuds a left hand into Roman's body. Miller throws a low kick, looking for Roman's leg but Roman calmly moves out of range. Miller on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Miller feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Roman uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Miller ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Miller looking for a takedown here - he's got it. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Miller slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Roman keeping full guard, as Miller tries to pass. Miller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Miller throws a big right hand that misses. Roman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Roman tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Miller has gone for a leg lock! Roman slips out almost immediately though and dives into Miller's guard.
Miller has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Roman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Miller looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Roman trying to control but Miller is working from the bottom. Miller is looking for a triangle but Roman pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Roman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Miller escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Miller keeping moving, preventing Roman from controlling successfully. Roman stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Miller throws up his legs and catches Roman in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Roman tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Miller! That came out of nowhere!
