Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tikuana St Regis ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jiu Jitsu! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jitsu shoots in looking for a takedown. St Regis tries to sprawl out of it but Jitsu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. St Regis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. St Regis tried to counter with a leg kick but Jitsu avoided it. Jitsu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts St Regis as he jumps to the side. St Regis shoots in looking for a takedown but Jitsu manages to keep the fight standing, pushing St Regis 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Jitsu leaves St Regis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jitsu pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces St Regis back to the cage. Jitsu follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Horrible takedown attempt by Jitsu or perhaps it was just good defense by St Regis , which made it look bad. St Regis swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Tikuana St Regis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jiu Jitsu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice sprawl there from St Regis as Jitsu shoots in. Jitsu scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Excellent takedown into side control there by Jitsu. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jitsu wants to control but St Regis is keeping him busy. St Regis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jitsu wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Jitsu tries for a kimura but St Regis is defending well. St Regis is trying to control Jitsu's posture but Jitsu avoids it. Jitsu working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. St Regis tries to get back to half guard but can't. St Regis wants to control the position but that's not easy when your opponent is in side control! Jitsu seems to be going for some sort of submission here. Hard to say what - oh, it's a Brabo choke! He's got it! St Regis is tapping! Wow, great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Brabo Choke). Jiu Jitsu! A relieved looking Jiu Jitsu thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
