Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Aleksei Ponomarenko!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jake Belcher!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ponomarenko dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Belcher misses with a hook
and Ponomarenko counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Jake Belcher has been cut.
Ponomarenko throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Belcher uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ponomarenko.
Nice sprawl there from Ponomarenko as Belcher shoots in.
Belcher doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Belcher gets the takedown into side control.
Ponomarenko takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Ponomarenko tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Belcher is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ponomarenko is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Belcher creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ponomarenko sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ponomarenko is not content to let Belcher control the position.
Ponomarenko takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Belcher tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Belcher has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Belcher just content to control the position.
Belcher sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Ponomarenko is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Belcher has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ponomarenko!
Ponomarenko is bucking up trying to escape but Belcher cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Belcher working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Belcher lands a big elbow.
Ponomarenko on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ponomarenko tries to get out of the position.
Belcher breaks from Ponomarenko's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Belcher controlling the position easily from mount.
Belcher throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Ponomarenko because Belcher loaded up on that one.
Belcher lands a big elbow.


Ponomarenko is rocked!
Belcher unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Ponomarenko wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Belcher celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake Belcher!
