The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vick fails in his attempt to clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Savolainen has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Savolainen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vick's guard.

Vick is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Vick is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Savolainen is just riding it out for now. Vick eventually gives up the hold.

Vick tries to pass the half guard into mount. Savolainen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Vick wants to work for an arm triangle but Savolainen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Vick wants to free his trapped foot but Savolainen is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Savolainen looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Vick pushes past his half guard into mount!
Savolainen tries to improve his position but Vick has taken his back! Vick has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Savolainen tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Vick pushes Savolainen away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
