Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ramiro Combs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryan Crowley! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Combs shoots in for a takedown but Crowley shows good takedown defense. Crowley displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Combs. Combs gets caught flat footed, as Crowley shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Crowley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Combs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Crowley trying to control but Combs is working from the bottom. Combs is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Combs can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Crowley controls the pace. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crowley connects with a couple of short punches. Crowley is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Combs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Crowley's guard.
Crowley scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Ryan Crowley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Crowley drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Combs being controlled here, momentarily. Crowley trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Combs really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill... Crowley wants to control from the top but Combs keeps moving. Combs avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Crowley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Crowley throws a strike but Combs rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Combs drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Combs jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Crowley is looking to stand up but Combs isn't so interested in that idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Crowley manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Crowley scores with a takedown into Combs's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Crowley wants to pass the guard but Combs is keeping the position. Crowley is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Combs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Crowley's guard.
Crowley has his feet on Combs's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Crowley dives in for a single leg takedown but Combs sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Combs really is a fat lump. Crowley manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Combs on his heels. He'll look to pass Combs's guard now, I'm sure. Combs is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Combs wants to stand and escape but Crowley is having none of it. Crowley wants to control from the top but Combs keeps moving. Crowley looking to sit in guard and control but Combs gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Combs stops Crowley from standing up. Crowley wants to get back to his feet but Combs passes into half guard.
Combs looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Crowley with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Combs looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Combs decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Crowley looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Combs! Crowley has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Crowley has a takedown stuffed. Crowley gets a takedown into half guard. Crowley is keen to just control but Combs is a slippery customer. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Crowley dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Crowley shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Crowley throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Crowley trying to control the pace. Combs is refusing to be controlled, as Crowley sits in half guard. Combs is trying to stand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Combs is pressing down on Crowley's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Combs is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Crowley manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Combs keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Combs breaks the clinch.
Crowley changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Combs looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Combs tries to buck Crowley off but Crowley is having none of it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The ground and pound from Crowley seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Crowley scoring with punches from side control. Combs takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Crowley grinds an elbow into Combs's temple. Combs is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Crowley lands a decent elbow from side control.
Combs is rocked! Crowley cracks Combs with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Crowley immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Combs is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Crowley!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ryan Crowley!
