Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between TJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Lake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is DMX - Bad Boy. Lake has chosen Saliva - Super Star as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, TJ Penn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrew Lake! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Steve Montenegro and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lake will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. A slow jab from Lake misses its intended target. Penn tries for a takedown but Lake circles away easily and Lake counters with a shoot takedown. Penn fights it but they end up in guard. Lake slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Penn looking for subs off his back but Lake has passed one foot through into half guard.
Penn manages to get to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lake is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Lake preventing the sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Penn throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Penn throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Lake is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Penn trying to keep a closed guard but Lake is proving a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Penn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lake doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lake manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Lake is standing up over Penn. Penn looks to escape but Lake dives into side control.
Lake is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Penn struggling a bit here. Penn tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lake remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Penn is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Lake's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Penn wants to get back to full guard. Lake is pressing down on Penn's thigh, looking to free his foot. Penn is holding on for now. Penn punching from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lake wants to take a breather but Penn is having none of it. Lake prevents Penn from improving his position. Lake trying to control the pace. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Penn is looking to control Lake's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Penn avoid being mounted? And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andrew Lake dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Lake scores with a hook. Penn gets a takedown into half guard. Lake trying to control but Penn postures up.
Lake avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Penn. Penn trying to control the action but Lake is working from the bottom. Penn looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lake tries to get to full guard but Penn has control of the leg. Lake wants to control but Penn is keeping busy.
Penn is keen to just control but Lake is a slippery customer. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Penn tries to clinch up but Lake circles away and keeps his distance. Lake with a lazy takedown attempt and Penn counters with a two punch combo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Penn walks into a straight right hand from Lake. Penn stuffs the takedown. Penn moves in looking to clinch but Lake pushes him off. Penn shoots in looking for a takedown. Lake tries to sprawl out of it but Penn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lake manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Penn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lake throws a hook to the side of Penn's head but Penn sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Lake fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. TJ Penn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Lake. The fight moves into the clinch position. Lake trying to land knees to the body.
Penn wants to get back to striking at distance but Lake won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lake tries to break the clinch but Penn is controlling the position. Lake misses with a body punch.
Lake is looking to break free of the clinch but Penn has double underhooks. Lake has Penn pushed against the cage. Penn goes for a takedown attempt but Lake pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Penn closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Penn looks for a takedown but Lake sprawls well. Andrew Lake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lake misses with a looping right.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Penn misses with a takedown attempt and Lake counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Lake is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Penn. Lake closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Penn to the mat! Penn manages to get full guard. Penn has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Lake has passed into side control.
Lake controlling the position from side mount. Penn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lake wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Lake is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Andrew Lake will probably get the nod - 10:9. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Penn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lake circles away quickly and effectively. Lake misses with an uppercut. Penn saw that one coming. Lake shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Penn as he jumps to the side. Penn gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Lake. Lake shoots in and bounces Penn off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Penn wants to get back to his feet but Lake is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Penn looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lake is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Penn Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lake's back instead. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Penn is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Lake. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. Penn lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Lake breaks Penn's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Penn wants to sweep here but Lake controlling him for the moment. Penn wants to improve his position but instead Lake has moved into half guard.

Penn is looking to regain half guard here but Lake keeps moving and retains side control. Lake is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lake working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. TJ Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Penn is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Penn is trying to control Lake's posture but Lake avoids it. Penn is looking for a sweep. Andrew Lake is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lake gets the takedown into side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Andrew Lake comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Lake winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
