With a record of 30 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Boris Gregorovitsj!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeVanzo cracks Gregorovitsj with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


That has opened up Boris Gregorovitsj's cut even more.

Gregorovitsj throws an uppercut from half a mile away. DeVanzo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gregorovitsj misses with a double jab
and DeVanzo counters with a stiff right hand.
DeVanzo takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Gregorovitsj throws a body kick that misses.
No joy there for Gregorovitsj, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

A slapping body kick lands there for Gregorovitsj.
Gregorovitsj swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
DeVanzo fires out a quick counter leg kick but Gregorovitsj just manages to avoid it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The cut above Boris Gregorovitsj's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Gregorovitsj uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from DeVanzo.
DeVanzo on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Gregorovitsj. Gregorovitsj obviously looking to wear him down.

A clash of legs there as Gregorovitsj blocks the low kick.
Gregorovitsj lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
DeVanzo misses with a wild body shot.
DeVanzo blocks a jab.
Gregorovitsj pulls out of a head kick attempt.
DeVanzo attempts a counter takedown but Gregorovitsj avoids it well and moves away.
DeVanzo steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gregorovitsj.
Gregorovitsj throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by DeVanzo.
DeVanzo misses with a hook. Gregorovitsj ducked under it nicely.
DeVanzo thumps Gregorovitsj with a low kick.
DeVanzo seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
That kick from DeVanzo tenderised Gregorovitsj's leg. Gregorovitsj is trying to keep his angry face on.

DeVanzo throws a leg kick but Gregorovitsj checks it.
A little jabbing left from Gregorovitsj on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

DeVanzo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gregorovitsj swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gregorovitsj has momentary wrist control but DeVanzo slips an elbow through the middle.
Gregorovitsj utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DeVanzo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
DeVanzo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
DeVanzo tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from DeVanzo, right into the meat.
Gregorovitsj connects with a body shot that sends DeVanzo's belly button to the back.

Gregorovitsj ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
DeVanzo avoids the head kick by Gregorovitsj.
DeVanzo throws a leg kick but Gregorovitsj sees it coming and checks it nicely.
DeVanzo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gregorovitsj defends it nicely.
DeVanzo thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Gregorovitsj if he has to take too many more of those.
DeVanzo takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Gregorovitsj lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gregorovitsj connects with a solid leg kick.
Gregorovitsj moves forwards but DeVanzo connects with a nice, crisp jab.
DeVanzo shoots in looking for a takedown but Gregorovitsj manages to keep the fight standing, pushing DeVanzo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

It looked like DeVanzo was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gregorovitsj controlling the position for now.
DeVanzo is keen to just control but Gregorovitsj is a slippery customer.
Gregorovitsj wants to improve his position but DeVanzo is controlling well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
DeVanzo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gregorovitsj throws out the jab.

DeVanzo takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Gregorovitsj bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps DeVanzo's head backwards.
DeVanzo scores with a kick to the midsection.

and DeVanzo counters with a nice uppercut.


Boris Gregorovitsj's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

enabling DeVanzo to counter with a crisp jab.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Boris Gregorovitsj's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 9:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Artie DeVanzo!
A relieved looking Artie DeVanzo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
