Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sean Avery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fredy Benton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean Avery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fredy Benton!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benton fails with a takedown attempt.

Benton looks for a takedown but Avery sprawls well.
As Benton backs away, Avery returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Donk. Avery catches Benton right on the button with a cross.
Benton has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Avery.

We've been hearing reports that Avery has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Avery shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Avery was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Avery tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Avery has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Benton is working to avoid the ground and pound but Avery connects with a decent elbow.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Avery winds up and cracks Benton with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Avery wants to lay and pray for a moment but Benton keeps working.
Avery takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Benton is looking for a sweep. Avery is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Avery tries to pass to full mount but Benton defends it.
Avery scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Avery lands a nice short elbow.

Benton is looking to control Avery's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Benton avoid being mounted?
Avery has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Avery thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Avery throws a strike but Benton avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Avery lands a brutal head kick. Benton looks out on his feet and Avery throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

An out of breath Sean Avery thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
