Katsidis is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Troy Soundtrack - 06 The Greek Army and Its Defeat. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Katsidis!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Dean Styles and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Katsidis. Those never looked like landing.
A counter left hand to the body from Sean misses its target.
Katsidis scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Sean has picked Katsidis up - he's going for a ride! Sean dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Sean is taking a breather. Katsidis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Sean is looking to advance position but Katsidis won't allow it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sean decides to stand and escape the position.
Katsidis throws a combination. Sean tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Katsidis throws a nice looking combination but Sean bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Sean looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Katsidis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sean bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Katsidis's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sean wants to free his trapped foot but Katsidis is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Sean is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Katsidis!
Sean takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Sean throws some wild stikes that Katsidis manages to avoid easily.

Sean really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Katsidis wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Sean.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Sean is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Katsidis has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Katsidis!

Sean had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Katsidis defends it easily.
Sean on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sean tries to get out of the position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Katsidis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sean to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Sean gets to his feet. Katsidis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Katsidis misses with a jab, cross combination.
Katsidis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sean throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Katsidis misses with a double jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Sean counters with a single leg into guard. Katsidis didn't expect that.
Katsidis is breathing heavily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sean accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sean advances position into side control!
John Sean overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sean has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Sean closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sean lands in his opponent's guard.
Sean postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Sean is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Sean lands a couple of digs.
Sean has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sean throwing strikes but missing.
Sean with a flurry of punches that miss.
Sean distracts Katsidis with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Sean not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Sean passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Sean controls the position.

Sean has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Sean shoots in and drives through. Katsidis sprawls well.
Katsidis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Sean has Katsidis up against the cage in a clinch.

Sean has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Katsidis clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Sean sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Katsidis taps out!
