Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Todd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nathan Nelson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dylan Todd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Nelson!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson shoots in looking for a takedown but Todd manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nelson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nelson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Todd fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nelson looks for a takedown but Todd sprawls well.
Dylan Todd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan Nelson.
Nelson stuns Todd with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Nelson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
As Nelson looks to move away, Todd throws a big counter combo but Nelson just gets out of the way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nelson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Todd is pushing Nelson's head away, looking to escape. Nelson manages to hold on to the position though.

Nelson stands up and beckons Todd to his feet.
Todd darts in looking for a takedown but Nelson gets double underhooks and turns Todd into the cage.
Todd displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nelson.
Todd stuffs the takedown attempt from Nelson. Nelson gets slowly back to his feet.
Todd looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Todd shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nice takedown defense from Todd. No joy for Nelson on that attempt.
Todd tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nelson swivels and escapes.
Todd dives in and grabs Nelson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nelson pushes down on Todd's head and hops out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nelson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Todd avoids it really well and circles away.
Nelson tries a head kick but it misses.
Nelson throws a sloppy head kick and Todd moves out of range easily.
Todd half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Nelson swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Todd feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've been hearing that Todd has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Nelson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Todd is one step ahead there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nelson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Todd won't allow Nelson to get back to his feet.

Todd not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Nelson has control of Todd's left arm, preventing Todd from doing any damage.

Nelson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Todd defends well.
Nelson trying to keep a closed guard but Todd is proving a slippery customer.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nelson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Todd eats them both and turns towards Nelson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Nelson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nelson tries a quick counter leg kick but Todd is wise to it.
Nelson tries for a takedown but Todd circles away easily
and Todd counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Todd shoots in for a double leg but Nelson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nelson punishes Todd's body with a nice straight punch.
Todd shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nelson sprawls well. Nelson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Todd gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Nelson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Todd goes for a double leg but Nelson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nelson continues to drive forward.
Todd shoots in for a takedown but Nelson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nelson steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Todd.

and Nelson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dylan Todd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nelson gets through Todd's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Nelson pulls Todd into guard.
Nelson is wriggling around but Todd manages to pass to half guard.
Todd controlling the pace.
Nelson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Todd looking to secure an arm triangle but Nelson defends it well.
Nelson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Todd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nelson is trying desperately to improve position.
Nelson manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Todd wants to work for an arm triangle but Nelson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Todd wants to control but Nelson is keeping him busy.
Nelson is looking for a sweep. Todd is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Todd is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Nelson actively working from the bottom here.
Nelson wants to control the action here but instead Todd manages to pass to full mount!

Nelson has given up his back.
Nelson is trying to stand back up.

Todd has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Nelson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Todd has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Nelson is defending well but eventually Todd manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Nelson has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dylan Todd!
