Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Guadalupe Mcfarland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raymond Cordell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Guadalupe Mcfarland! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raymond Cordell! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cordell closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mcfarland did well to prevent Cordell getting side control. Cordell looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Cordell is figuring out what he wants to do next. Mcfarland wants to get back to his feet.
Cordell seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Cordell scoring with strikes to the body and head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cordell is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Mcfarland won't allow Cordell to pass to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cordell working the head and body with strikes. Cordell content to control rather than advance. Cordell lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Cordell prevents Mcfarland from standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Well, if Cordell is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Cordell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cordell tries to stand but his arm is trapped. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Cordell stops Mcfarland from getting back to his feet.
Mcfarland is trying to escape back to his feet but Cordell uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Mcfarland knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cordell on the ground. Mcfarland is looking to reverse the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cordell wants to stand but Mcfarland is controlling his arm. Mcfarland tries to bench press Cordell off him but Cordell keeps the position. Cordell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mcfarland is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Mcfarland wants to get back to his feet. Mcfarland tries to bench press Cordell off him but Cordell keeps the position. Cordell connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Mcfarland some visible discomfort.
It looks like Guadalupe Mcfarland has been cut. Cordell working the head with strikes. Cordell landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cordell is staying tight to Mcfarland's torso, preventing him from escaping. Mcfarland might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Cordell landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Mcfarland is rocked! Mcfarland tries to bench press Cordell off him but Cordell keeps the position. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Cordell's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Mcfarland manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Mcfarland not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cordell can do anything to dispel that myth. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cordell gets back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cordell controlling Mcfarland's posture. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Raymond Cordell dominated that round. The cut man is working on Guadalupe Mcfarland's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Cordell gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Cordell has Mcfarland pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cordell pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mcfarland tumbling to the mat - Cordell dives into Mcfarland's guard. Cordell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mcfarland is proving hard to escape from. Cordell prevents Mcfarland from getting back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cordell is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Mcfarland has his foot on Cordell's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cordell works his way back into a safe position though. Raymond Cordell has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mcfarland is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cordell scores with a couple of nice shots. Cordell is thwarting Mcfarland's attempts to control the position. Mcfarland tries to get to full guard but Cordell has control of the leg. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Cordell decides to stand and escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cordell clinches up against the cage. Cordell pressing his opponent against the cage. Cordell lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cordell connects with a nice short shot to Mcfarland's temple. Mcfarland is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cordell prevents Mcfarland from standing back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcfarland wants to get back to full guard but Cordell has passed into side control. Cordell decides to stand back up. Cordell steps back and let's Mcfarland get back to his feet. Cordell closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mcfarland quickly recovers to half guard. Cordell content to control rather than advance. Cordell uses his free foot to push down on Mcfarland's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mcfarland. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cordell working away from the top, dropping strikes. Cordell sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mcfarland is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Cordell mounts Mcfarland! Really nice guard pass there! Cordell moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mcfarland has worked his arm free - good work by Mcfarland!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cordell controls the position from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Raymond Cordell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Guadalupe Mcfarland's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Cordell changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mcfarland looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Mcfarland is looking for a sweep. Cordell moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. More stalling from Cordell. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cordell with more of the same as he continues to hold on.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cordell stands up and beckons Mcfarland to his feet. Cordell instigates a clinch. Cordell has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Cordell successfully pulls guard.
Cordell wants to stand but Mcfarland is controlling the position. Cordell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mcfarland gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Cordell lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mcfarland being controlled here, momentarily. Mcfarland is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cordell is controlling him. Mcfarland could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Cordell showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Mcfarland is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Cordell dives into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cordell lands some shots froms side control. Cordell lands a decent elbow from side control. Cordell tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The referee asks Cordell politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cordell prefers to stall for the moment though. Cordell cracks Mcfarland with a big elbow. Cordell cracks Mcfarland with an elbow. That is naaassty. Mcfarland tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cordell wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cordell grinds an elbow into Mcfarland's temple. Cordell looks up at the clock and then as Mcfarland takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cordell smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Mcfarland tries to bench press Cordell off him but Cordell keeps the position. Mcfarland being controlled for a moment. Cordell is continuing to stall.
And that's the end of the fight! Raymond Cordell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Cordell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
