Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dave Macias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Marquez!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marquez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Macias pushes Marquez off looking to stand but Marquez dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marquez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Macias keeps working.
Marquez is controlling the pace.
Macias looks like he's trying to stand up.
Macias is pressing down on Marquez's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Macias is controlling Marquez's posture.
Marquez trying to control the position from guard on top but Macias is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Macias preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Macias pulls Marquez in close to prevent any damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Marquez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Marquez takes the fight into the clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Marquez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A big left from Marquez misses.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Marquez.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Macias wants to control but Marquez postures up.
Macias is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Marquez wants to control but Macias is keeping him busy.

Marquez decides to stand back up.

Marquez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Macias has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Marquez is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Macias really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Macias gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Marquez regains guard.
Marquez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Marquez is trying to control the position but Macias postures up.
Macias is looking to stand up but Marquez won't let him.

Marquez goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Sloppy strikes from Marquez. Those never looked like landing.
Macias keeps the fight on the outside.

Macias has control of Marquez's left arm, preventing Marquez from doing any damage.
Macias will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Marquez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Macias has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Marquez is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Marquez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Marquez manages to end up in side control.

Macias throws Marquez to one side and escapes!

Marquez shoots in and bounces Macias off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Macias scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Marquez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Macias napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Macias is working to avoid the ground and pound but Marquez connects with a decent elbow.
Dave Macias overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Macias wants to get back to his feet but Marquez drags him back down.
Macias stops Marquez from passing to mount.
Marquez trying to control the action but Macias is working from the bottom.

Marquez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Macias wants to get back to his feet.
Marquez content to control rather than advance.

Macias shoots in for a double leg but Marquez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
