Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Ado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kegg Kurks! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kurks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ado paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kurks tries to clinch but Ado is having none of it. Ado appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Kurks tries to clinch but Ado moves out of range. Kurks tries to clinch but Ado is having none of it. Kurks closes the distance but Ado moves to the side and Ado decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kurks's guard. Ado is looking to work some ground and pound but Kurks has wrist control. Kurks is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ado is aware though and is defending well. Ado trying to control the position from guard on top but Kurks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kurks trying to keep a closed guard but Ado is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ado sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kurks's guard. Ado seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Ado wants to pass the guard but Kurks is defending well. Kurks actively working from the bottom here. Ado has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kurks trying to hold on to Ado's head to control him but Ado postures up.
Kurks tries to roll over but Ado keeps him under control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kurks wants to sweep but Ado has passed to side control! Ado wants to stand but Kurks has his arm trapped. Kurks sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Ado is thwarting Kurks's attempts to control the position. Kurks is looking for a sweep. Ado is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ado wants to stand up but Kurks is controlling the position.
Kurks felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Ado working over Kurks with some ground and pound. Kurks looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kurks is looking for a sweep. Ado is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ado is trying to control the action in half guard but Kurks is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Ado missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Ado throwing shots but Kurks is blocking nicely. Ado wants to take a breather but Kurks is having none of it. Kurks is looking to get back to full guard here but Ado has managed to pass to side control instead. Kurks dodges the ground and pound from Ado. Kurks avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Ado. Ado tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Kurks is trying to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ado working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Kurks is trying to get back to his feet. Ado tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ado fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Ado has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Kurks is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ado yanks on the arm and Kurks is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ado.
