Frazier cracks Gutz with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Gutz tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Frazier pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Gutz is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Frazier!
Joe Frazier is the new heavyweight champion!
Joe Frazier decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
