PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lance Legstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pika Chu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chu is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Gotta Catch Em All. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Lance Legstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Pika Chu!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Legstrong throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chu's waist but Chu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Legstrong off to one side.

Legstrong changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chu looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Legstrong is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chu knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Legstrong tries to advance to mount but can't.

Legstrong looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Legstrong wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Chu, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Legstrong working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Chu is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Legstrong is controlling him well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Legstrong trying to control the action but Chu is working from the bottom.

Legstrong tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Legstrong has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Chu is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Legstrong has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Legstrong trying to control the action but Chu is working from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Chu regains half guard there - taking advantage of Legstrong's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chu wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Legstrong shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chu defends it nicely.

Legstrong shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Legstrong looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chu wants to get back to his feet but Legstrong is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Chu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Legstrong. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Legstrong passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Chu is not content to let Legstrong control the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Legstrong goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Chu rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Legstrong's guard! Nice work there by Chu!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance Legstrong dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Legstrong darts in looking for a takedown but Chu gets double underhooks and turns Legstrong into the cage.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Chu! But no joy.
Legstrong shoots in and drives through. Chu sprawls well.
Chu tests Legstrong's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Legstrong shoots in and bounces Chu off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Legstrong is standing up over Chu. Chu looks to escape but Legstrong dives into side control.


Legstrong has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Chu is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Legstrong yanks on the arm and Chu is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Legstrong.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lance Legstrong!
During a confident post fight interview, Lance Legstrong thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
