PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Yuya Shimizu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and I Know Wrestling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shimizu comes to the cage accompanied by Alright, let's do this.. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yuya Shimizu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, I Know Wrestling!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shimizu slips under a jab from Wrestling.
Wrestling throws a series of punches but Shimizu avoids them all with ease.
Wrestling is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.


It looks like I Know Wrestling has been cut.
Shimizu lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Wrestling throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shimizu feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Wrestlings jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Wrestling tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
No joy there for Wrestling, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Shimizu scores with a jab to the head.
Shimizu slips a jab and a cross from Wrestling.
Shimizu misses with a head kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wrestling decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Shimizu makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Shimizu.
Shimizu will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Shimizu tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wrestling stays in close to Shimizu's body and controls the position.
Shimizu has Wrestling pulled in close to control his posture.
Wrestling stopping the sweep attempt from Shimizu.
Wrestling told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Shimizu is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Shimizu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Shimizu lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Wrestling is controlling Shimizu's posture.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Wrestling has momentary wrist control but Shimizu slips an elbow through the middle.
Shimizu trying to control but Wrestling is working from the bottom.

Further stalling from Shimizu.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wrestling can do anything to dispel that myth.
Shimizu missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Shimizu controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shimizu's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Wrestling is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Shimizu drops back looking for a leg! Wrestling is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wrestling manages to kick Shimizu off! Shimizu jumps back into Wrestling's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shimizu not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Wrestling looking to control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Wrestling wants to stand but Shimizu is controlling the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Wrestling takes one to the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shimizu tries to clinch but Wrestling is having none of it.
Wrestling changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Wrestling throws a body shot but no joy.
Wrestling throws a lazy uppercut
and Shimizu counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Shimizu connects with a good right hand that stumbles Wrestling. Wrestling circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Shimizu works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
A nice inside leg kick there by Shimizu. That's going to slow Wrestling down.
Shimizu stuffs the takedown attempt from Wrestling. Wrestling gets slowly back to his feet.
Wrestling tries to move into range but Shimizu moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wrestling checks a leg kick nicely.
A big right from Shimizu misses.
Shimizu misses with a hook.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yuya Shimizu dominated that round.
The cut man is working on I Know Wrestling's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wrestling misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shimizu.
Wrestling connects with a body shot.
Wrestling takes one to the chin there.
Shimizu scores with a kick to the body.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Wrestling.
Wrestling trying to control the position but Shimizu is working away.
The ground and pound from Wrestling seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Shimizu is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wrestling's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wrestling lands a nice short elbow.
Shimizu slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Shimizu has his hands on Wrestling's head, controlling the position.
Wrestling really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shimizu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wrestling sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Wrestling landing with the ground and pound.
Shimizu is trying to keep Wrestling in close.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Wrestling with a flurry of punches that miss.
Shimizu wants to sweep here but Wrestling controlling him for the moment.
Wrestling trying to control but Shimizu is working from the bottom.
Wrestling trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Wrestling not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

A solid leg kick lands there for Shimizu.
Shimizu defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wrestling.
Shimizu thinks about countering with a body kick.
Wrestling takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Shimizu is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wrestling can do to turn this around?
Wrestling looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Shimizu is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Shimizu misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wrestling misses with a looping left.
Wrestling takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Wrestling takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Shimizu lands a leg kick that knocks Wrestling off balance momentarily.
I Know Wrestling is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wrestling staying out of range there.
Shimizu throws a quick inside leg kick.
Shimizu scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Shimizu is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
A big left from Shimizu misses.
Wrestling is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Wrestling on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Shimizu connects with a leg kick. Wrestling looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Wrestling shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


Wrestling is rocked!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wrestling throws a nice looking combination but Shimizu bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wrestling misses with a body shot.
Shimizu tries a head kick but it misses.
Shimizu with a hook.
Shimizu scores with a nice right hand.
Wrestling is still on wobbly legs! Can Shimizu finish him?
Shimizu drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Wrestling right on the button. Wrestling goes down! Shimizu follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Shimizu gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yuya Shimizu!
A very excited looking Yuya Shimizu rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
