Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shinji Asaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Te Shudo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Te Shudo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Asaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Te Shudo!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asaki shoots and misses
enabling Shudo to counter with a crisp jab.

Asaki seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Asaki shoots in looking for a takedown. Shudo tries to sprawl out of it but Asaki keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Shudo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Asaki shoots for a double leg takedown but Shudo sprawls well. He's pushed Asaki's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shinji Asaki. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Asaki wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shudo, who protects the arm well.
Shudo is trying to escape the position but Asaki is controlling the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Asaki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Asaki is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shudo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Asaki is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Shudo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Asaki has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Shudo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Asaki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Asaki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shudo was covering up waiting for the punch and Asaki finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Asaki's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Shudo has eaten all the pies!

It looked like Asaki was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Shudo.
Asaki gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Asaki closes the distance and clinches up with Shudo, looking for a takedown. Asaki pushes Shudo against the ropes but Shudo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
