PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juan Koski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kanchai Suya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koski comes into the arena with Accept - Head Over Heels blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Juan Koski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kanchai Suya!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koski lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Suya circles away quickly and effectively.
A chopping leg kick lands by Suya.
Suya has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Suya buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Nice jab there from Suya.
Suya avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Suya lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Koski sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Suya feints and then cracks Koski's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Koski down.
Koski tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Suya is able to avoid easily.
Suya throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Kanchai Suya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Suya connects with a leg kick. Koski looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Koski throws a nice inside leg kick.
Koski throws a right and a left that Suya avoids nicely.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Koski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Suya tries to counter by closing the distance.
Koski throws a big shot that misses.
Suya is looking to slow Koski down with leg kicks.
Suya leaves Koski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Suya tried to score with a low kick but Koski checks it.
Suya wants to slow Koski down by chopping away at his legs.

Koski throws a nice looking combination but Suya bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Koski is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Koski paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Suya fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Koski has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

A bone on bone clash there as Koski blocks the leg kick.

Nice straight punches there by Suya. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Suya.
Kanchai Suya is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice uppercut lands for Suya. That snapped Koski's head back.
Suya scores with the left hand. Koski knows he should have avoided that one.

Suya fakes the leg kick and cracks Koski in the body.
Koski throws a jab when Suya was well out of range.

Koski is really struggling to control Suya but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Koski is pressing down on Suya's thigh, looking to free his foot. Suya is holding on for now.
Koski is keen to just control but Suya is a slippery customer.
Suya looks like he's trying to stand up.
Koski throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Suya to regain full guard.
Koski throwing strikes but missing.
Koski won't allow Suya to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kanchai Suya dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Koski throws a body punch but Suya moves out of range.
Koski throws a sloppy head kick and Suya moves out of range easily.
Koski thows a left - swing and a miss!
Suya takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Kanchai Suya seems to be getting the better of the standup.
A nice leg kick lands there from Suya.
Suya on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Koski. Koski obviously looking to wear him down.
Koski shoots in looking for a takedown but Suya manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Koski's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Suya lands a nice leg kick that just misses Koski's sensitive parts.

Suya tries to sprawl but Koski drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Suya wants to get back to his feet.

Koski is working for a submission of some sort.
Suya is staying active underneath Koski, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Koski wants to control but Suya is keeping him busy.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

and Suya finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Suya lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Koski has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Koski and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Suya throws a wild body kick that Koski sees coming a mile off.

Suya misses with a left hand
and Koski counters with a good low kick that Suya was not able to check.
Koski will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Suya moves out of range as Koski throws a body kick.
Koski has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Suya finds it's way round the side to connect with Koski's head.
Suya slips a jab from Koski.
Suya pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Suya fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Koski checks it well.

Koski throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Koski counters with a thumping low kick.

Suya pivots, looking for a leg kick but Koski is out of range and Suya settles back down.

Suya thuds his shin into the meat of Koski's side.
Suya avoids the body shot from Koski.
Koski backing away here, and Suya unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Suya slips under a jab from Koski.
Suya connects with a solid leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Suya throws a front kick that sends Koski stumbling back into the cage.
Suya misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Suya dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Koski. That did some damage!
Suya lets loose with a powerful body kick. Koski will feel that in the morning.
Koski takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Koski throws a push kick but Suya slaps the foot to one side.

That was a close second round but I would say that Juan Koski will probably get the nod.

Koski shoots for a takedown but Suya saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Suya takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Koski drops Suya with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Suya! Koski dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:06 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Juan Koski!
Juan Koski decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
