Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rolando Mcclain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Higgins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rolando Mcclain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ian Higgins!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Higgins rushes Mcclain and presses him up against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Higgins creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Higgins lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Mcclain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mcclain gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Higgins.
Mcclain takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Higgins misses with a two punch combination.
Higgins punishes Mcclain's body with a nice straight punch.

Higgins fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mcclain, pushing him back against the cage.
Mcclain could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Higgins can't break the clinch.

Higgins digs a right hand into Mcclain's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Mcclain's gas tank.

Mcclain is pushing Higgins up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Higgins scores with a one two! Mcclain had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Higgins throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mcclain stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Higgins decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Mcclain kicks off Higgins and gets to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Higgins lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Higgins moves into range and clinches up with Mcclain.
A right hook to the body lands for Higgins.

Mcclain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Higgins looking to score a takedown here. Mcclain is defending well but Higgins drives through and ends up in Mcclain's guard.

Mcclain pushes Higgins off and scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mcclain moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mcclain is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Higgins keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Mcclain has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Higgins uses from the top position.

Mcclain escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Higgins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mcclain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Higgins swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ian Higgins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
