Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hong Caldwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boris Alkain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hong Caldwell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boris Alkain! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Caldwell is looking to clinch but Alkain is avoiding it.
Alkain bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Caldwell manages to work his way to half guard, despite Alkain's best efforts. Caldwell controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Caldwell wants to control but Alkain is keeping busy and won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Caldwell is trying to stand.
Caldwell is concentrating on defense, preventing Alkain from advancing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Alkain thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Caldwell tries to get to full guard but Alkain has control of the leg. Caldwell trying to control from the bottom.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Alkain throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Caldwell was covering up waiting for the punch and Alkain finishes the takedown easily into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alkain passes into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Caldwell is controlling Alkain's position as best he can from this difficult position. Caldwell wants to improve his position but Alkain is controlling well.
Alkain throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Alkain trying to control the action but Caldwell is working from the bottom. Alkain passes to side control. Alkain tries to score with some ground and pound. Caldwell controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee asks Alkain politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Alkain prefers to stall for the moment though. Caldwell prevents Alkain from moving into mount. Alkain taking a breather here. Caldwell tries to improve position but can't. Alkain postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
You can see the frustration on Caldwell's face as Alkain controls the position. You can see the frustration on Caldwell's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Alkain throws an elbow but Caldwell slips to the side and avoids it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Alkain is looking to take a break and control but Caldwell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Alkain remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Caldwell gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Alkain to score an easy takedown into full guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Caldwell pulls Alkain in close to prevent any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Boris Alkain dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Alkain manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Caldwell on his heels. He'll look to pass Caldwell's guard now, I'm sure. Alkain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Caldwell has his hands on Alkain's head, controlling the position. Caldwell working a defensive guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Alkain is controlling Caldwell's posture. Alkain's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Alkain is trying to keep Caldwell in close.
Caldwell cracks Alkain with a solid left hand. Alkain bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Caldwell's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Caldwell has control of Alkain's left arm, preventing Alkain from doing any damage. Alkain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Caldwell swivels though and keeps the full guard. Alkain wants to get up but he can't break Caldwell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Alkain won't allow Caldwell to sweep him here. Alkain wants to pass the guard but Caldwell is keeping the position. Alkain trying to stand up but can't free himself from Caldwell's guard. Alkain looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alkain trying to control the position from guard on top but Caldwell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Alkain feints and as Caldwell raises his hands in defense, Alkain changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Caldwell tries to strike from the bottom.
Alkain controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Alkain trying to control the position from guard on top but Caldwell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Alkain slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Caldwell lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Caldwell scoring with punches to the head and body. Caldwell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alkain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Caldwell has managed to get both his arms back between Alkain's legs - danger averted. Alkain pushes Caldwell off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Caldwell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Alkain, pushing him back against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Boris Alkain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Alkain shoots in and bounces Caldwell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Caldwell tries to land a sweep but no joy. Caldwell is looking to sweep but instead, Alkain has passed into half guard.
Alkain stands up and beckons Caldwell to join him on the feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alkain has taken the fight to the clinch.

Alkain has Caldwell pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Alkain pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Caldwell tumbling to the mat - Alkain dives into Caldwell's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Caldwell is pulling down on Alkain's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caldwell is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Alkain trying to control but Caldwell is working from the bottom. Caldwell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Caldwell seems keen to control Alkain's posture. Alkain in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Alkain wants to control from the top but Caldwell keeps moving. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Caldwell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alkain manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Alkain has a closed guard, preventing Caldwell from standing up. Caldwell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alkain works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Caldwell thows a huge punch but Alkain dodges it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Caldwell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Alkain defends it well. Caldwell is thwarting Alkain's attempts to control the position. Alkain keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that's the end of the fight! Boris Alkain comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Alkain winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
