PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stan Mckenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnie Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stan Mckenzie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnie Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lesnar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mckenzie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mckenzie shoots in but Lesnar avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mckenzie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Lesnar drives through with a takedown into Mckenzie's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Lesnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mckenzie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lesnar stays in close to Mckenzie's body and controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lesnar has gone for a leg lock! Mckenzie slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lesnar's guard.

Mckenzie lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Mckenzie distracts Lesnar with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Lesnar should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mckenzie lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mckenzie accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Lesnar is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Mckenzie presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Lesnar is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mckenzie can't fight it off and eventually Lesnar manages to take the fight to the floor. Mckenzie looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Lesnar is looking to pass into half guard but Mckenzie pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Mckenzie is in guard.

Mckenzie is looking to work some ground and pound but Lesnar has wrist control.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Lesnar has eaten all the pies!
Lesnar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Mckenzie postures up in Lesnar's guard and throws a big left but Lesnar blocks it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mckenzie makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Mckenzie postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Mckenzie in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mckenzie postures up in Lesnar's guard and throws a big left but Lesnar blocks it.

Mckenzie is in close to Lesnar's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Lesnar is trying to keep Mckenzie in close.
Mckenzie stops Lesnar from standing up.
Lesnar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Lesnar gets the takedown into side control.

Mckenzie throws Lesnar to one side and escapes!
Mckenzie is breathing heavily.
Lesnar defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mckenzie.
Mckenzie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stan Mckenzie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mckenzie fails to land the takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lesnar scores with a takedown into Mckenzie's guard.

Mckenzie scrambles and gets back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lesnar shoots in and bounces Mckenzie off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mckenzie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lesnar looking to sit in guard and control but Mckenzie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stan Mckenzie dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lesnar is looking to clinch but Mckenzie is avoiding it.

Lesnar manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mckenzie on his heels. He'll look to pass Mckenzie's guard now, I'm sure.

Lesnar passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Oh Mckenzie is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lesnar lands a strong strike to the head of Mckenzie. That's dazed him! Lesnar looking to finish here. Mckenzie is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Lesnar lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnie Lesnar!
