PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Denver Ingram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sage Westcutt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Westcutt's choice of entrance music: Sage's Theme. Sage Westcutt will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Denver Ingram!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sage Westcutt!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Roberts and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Westcutt misses
and Ingram counters with a nice kick to the body.

Ingram fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Westcutt sprawls well initially but Ingram persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ingram stands up from half guard.

Westcutt bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Ingram throws Westcutt to one side and escapes!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Westcutt gets caught napping as Ingram dives in and scores a takedown. Westcutt manages to retain guard.
Westcutt throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Ingram stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Ingram decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ingram really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Westcutt looks like he's trying to stand up.
Westcutt has hold of Ingram's hands but Ingram slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ground and pound from Ingram.
Nice strikes from Ingram there.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ingram in particular looking to stall.
Ingram lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Ingram decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Ingram gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Westcutt to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ingram kicks Westcutt off and gets to his feet.
Westcutt swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Ingram counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ingram is trying to work for a kimura but Westcutt is defending well.
Ingram content to control rather than advance.

Ingram decides to stand up.
Westcutt throws a sloppy head kick

and Ingram counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ingram.
Westcutt tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Ingram stands up and waves to Westcutt to follow him.

Westcutt shoots in and gets a takedown into Ingram's guard.

Ingram wriggles free and stands up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Westcutt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ingram was covering up waiting for the punch and Westcutt finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Ingram is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Westcutt presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Ingram wants a takedown but no success here.

Westcutt decides to pull guard.
Ingram working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Westcutt's head.

Westcutt throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Ingram will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ingram content to stall in guard here.
Ingram stands up over Westcutt, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Westcutt has momentary wrist control but Ingram slips an elbow through the middle.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ingram gets to his feet. Westcutt looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Westcutt throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ingram tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Westcutt is in Ingram's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Ingram manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Westcutt jumps guard.
Ingram won't allow Westcutt to sweep him here.

Westcutt working for a triangle but Ingram defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Denver Ingram dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Westcutt gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Westcutt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ingram gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Westcutt looking to control but Ingram passes into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Westcutt is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ingram scores with a couple of nice shots.
Ingram perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ingram is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Westcutt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ingram.
Ingram lands with a punch from half guard.

Ingram stands up out of the half guard.
Ingram ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Westcutt closes the distance looking to clinch

so Ingram counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ingram chips away with some ground and pound.

Ingram decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Westcutt, up you get!
Sage Westcutt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Westcutt gets the takedown into side control.

Ingram throws Westcutt to one side and escapes!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Westcutt drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Ingram uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Westcutt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ingram looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ingram throws Westcutt to one side and escapes!
Westcutt tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Ingram counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Westcutt!

Ingram decides to stand back up. Ingram steps back and let's Westcutt get back to his feet.

Westcutt is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ingram's half guard.

Ingram kicks off Westcutt and gets to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Westcutt looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ingram throws a big counter combination but Westcutt scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Westcutt blocks a head kick by Ingram.

Westcutt drives through with a takedown into Ingram's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Ingram manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Westcutt throws a left and a right that both miss

and Ingram counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Westcutt!
Westcutt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ingram. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Westcutt tries to escape but Ingram is in control.
Ingram cracks Westcutt with a big elbow.
Westcutt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ingram wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Westcutt looking for a sweep but Ingram has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Ingram lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Denver Ingram dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Westcutt scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Ingram sneaks out the side door and pushes Westcutt away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Westcutt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ingram looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ingram bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Westcutt shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ingram napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Ingram sneaks out the side door and pushes Westcutt away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Westcutt takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Westcutt is looking to land body kicks.
Denver Ingram is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ingram darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Ingram postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Westcutt to stand up.

Ingram circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ingram tries to counter by clinching up but Westcutt breaks away and moves out of range.
Westcutt fails with an attempt to clinch.

Ingram gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Ingram manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Westcutt shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ingram manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Ingram wriggles free and stands up.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ingram pushes Westcutt off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Westcutt had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ingram defends it easily.

Ingram is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Westcutt can do to turn this around?

Ingram thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ingram distracts Westcutt with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Ingram gets to his feet - Westcutt follows without any prompting.
Westcutt misses with a leg kick.

Westcutt shoots in and gets a takedown into Ingram's guard.

Ingram kicks Westcutt off and gets to his feet.

Westcutt is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Westcutt closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ingram did well to prevent Westcutt getting side control.

Ingram manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Westcutt keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ingram works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Westcutt is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Westcutt wants to stand up but Ingram is controlling him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Denver Ingram showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ingram, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
