PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mad Max (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Check Mong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Check Mong told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mad Max!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Check Mong!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Max scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Max prevents Mong from improving his position.
Mong is pressing down on Max's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Mong manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Max manages to get himself to full guard.
Mong trying to control but Max is working from the bottom.
Mong is looking to work some ground and pound but Max has wrist control.
Max wants to stand but Mong is controlling the position.
Mong in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mong loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Max is trying to keep Mong in close.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mong advances to half guard.
Max has hold of Mong's hands but Mong slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Mong is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mong stops Max from getting back to his feet.
Max on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Mong lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Max is trying to control but can't.
Max is trying to get back to full guard.
Mong trying to control the action but Max is working from the bottom.
Mong looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mong not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Max looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Mong lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Max is breathing heavily.
Mong lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Mong is trying to control the action in half guard but Max is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mong scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Mong lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mong is thwarting Max's attempts to control the position.
Max is trying to stand up here but Mong is controlling him well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mong is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Mong prevents Max from improving his position.
Max has hold of Mong's hands but Mong slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Max trying to control but Mong postures up.
Mong controlling the pace.
Mong is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Max wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mong connects with a nice short shot to Max's temple.
Max trying to hold on to Mong's head to control him but Mong postures up.

Mong stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Mong clinches with his opponent.
A knee to the head by Mong.

Mong works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Mong trying to control but Max is working from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mong controlling from the top position.
Mong stands up over Max, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Check Mong dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mong lands with a nice body kick.
Mong throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Mong instigates a clinch.

Mong turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Mong is looking to take a break and control but Max is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mong works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Mong is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Max looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mong gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Max is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mong lets go of the hold and Max can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Check Mong!
